Not really into religion as it seems to be the root of where all conflicts emerge from.
If however I had to choose one I would be a spiritualist. Mainly due to my mams side all being spiritualists. Got to be something going on after this life?

Nah, once you're dead all you are is worm food.

Not if you're toasted. The worms don't get their cut of the action at the crem!
Aye but not everyone wants their loved ones ashes so what do they do with them?
Apparently they are very good for making the soil fertile.
Didn't work at Auschwitz like, **** all grows there. Not even a dandilion.

Hate the idea of being buried, personally. Just my ****ing luck I'd wake up after a few guinnesses and wonder why its so ****ing dark and quiet.

No problem ending up as ashes on the wind.

Not religious at all, but was forced to be a Catholic whilst a kid.

If I had to choose one, and I could have the powers that come with it, Jedi, even though I think it's bloody stupid that Jedi is an official religion.

I believe if it makes the person a better human being then who am I to judge?

If a man turns to religion to get away from a life of crime then nobody can argue that it has it's benefits, so long as he doesn't try to tell me or anybody I love that we are wrong or committing 'sin', because in that case, I excercise my right to shut his ****ing mouth by whatever means necessary.

I don't fascinate myself with the universe, at tho point in my life I simply do not have the hours in my day to commit to such research and self education.

I believe a lot of people are religious because of their eternal struggle, being poor, being suppressed, being lost in their own head etc, religion claims to offer them all of the comforts they need in 'faith'.

You ask which I'd choose if one was true, then I'd be a Muslim, for all the persecution I could live with it because I'd be handed a coach full of untouched pussy as soon as I kicked the bucket, ****ing result!

Maybe it's time we started a new religion, right here, right now!

Bri can be the High Priest, or priestess if it's the weekend and he's wearing a dress. I'm all for equality <laugh>

All we need is a name for it and an underlying philosophy, which I'm assuming would be football.

We'd need our own Mecca. Wembley, obviously!

Heretics would be anyone supporting women's football! Equality only goes so far obviously! <laugh>

I was bought up a Roman Catholic, went to catholic school. I did all the first communion and confirmation, church every Sunday. It was my grandads wishes.

As soon as I was old enough I ****ed it all off.

What a load of bollox.

My dad was a physicist, I could recite Newtons laws of motion and explain Einstein's theory of relativity when I was 4 years old. Anyone who believes any of these religions is doing so not based on any rational thought. That does not mean I don't believe in some sort of higher power.

70% of the energy in the universe cannot be explained. Although we can see echo's of the big bang and can see an "event" which happened at the supposed start of the universe we cannot explain it. We know a lot, we are very cleaver, compared to say a cat or a dog. BUT a cat or a dog is fairly clever compare to an ameba. While my cat understand his small territory he has no clue about our town let alone the UK or planet. We are the same, we understand some things but the universe and microcosm are still full of the unexplained.

Put it this way, if there was some "GOD" who wanted to observe how many different life forms react and behave, in different environments, without communicating with each other, "The Universe" would be a very clever invention.

If you want to teach your children more about particle physics check this book out my dad wrote. Its a fictional story with me as the main character. http://www.lulu.com/gb/en/shop/ian-lynch/tales-from-the-microcosm/paperback/product-15375409.html

My dad died unexpectedly a couple of months ago. He was a brilliant man who's life was cut short. Do I think he is gone forever, no I don't. I am not sure how it works but I believe in something. But its certainly not what any of these crazy religions preach.

Great post Vegas. My condolences for you losing your dad.

You put your argument so eloquently.

I think Einstein summed it up best, by saying (I'm paraphrasing here) that the universe to us is like a small child walking into a large library. The child is awestruck and doesn't really understand what he's looking at, but dimly suspects that everything is arranged in accordance with some sort of order, but cannot fathom what that order is or how it came to be.

So, how did the universe come into being?

**** knows, and we're not finding out in our lifetimes...
