I know I keep banging on about this, but this is the key to why players coming from the lesser sides fail to do well at the top sides, apart from a "jack of all trades" player like Milner. I can't think of another player over 24/25 who has moved from a smaller PL club to a big club and done well (in recent-ish years), I've had a few tonight aswell so I may be chatting complete ****
It is also a sign of lack of imagination/ability in a manager when they can't make that player work. Hate to say this but Wenger was excellent at seeing how a player can work in a certain position. One of the best examples of that is Ray Parlour. Ok, he didn't sign him, Parlour was already there, yet Wenger adapted what Parlour dos, where he stood on the pitch and even told his team mates to only pass to him in a certain way.
