You have almost proved my point with that exact comment. We can't afford to keep trying to utilise him at the cost of being relegated again. That is just mindless to play him just because he's on high wages and no one will buy him. He has had long enough to prove himself!! If he is good enough for the Premiership why did we not keep him in the team last season and let him rip the championship apart with his prolific goal scoring abilities? He's not going to suddenly turn into this fantastic striker that we all hoped for when we signed him just because we are willing it to happen.

Your missing a point that none of our strikers took their chance when we were relegated.

This was because chances were so incredibly rare in that side.

I think the logical decision was to send him on loan to save on wages.

Your right that willing him to succeed is not going to turn him into a wonder striker. But sticking him in the reserves and forgetting about him makes it even less likely. It is clear he looks completely berift of confidence in front of goal.

Finally, if he doesn't prove up to it, the notion he will play anyway is just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

I agree <ok>

Gozza, if you really believe DM is putting pressure on AN, I just give up! <doh>
Well let's look at the facts-
One goal under CH
Put out on loan by NA in our championship season
Bench warmer on loan
Returned to Norwich FC

This would lead me to believe that he was loaned out in the hope that the loaned club would want to sign him on a permanent basis. No one in any other club has shown any interest of taking him off our hands. So your telling me that AN (best Norwich manager ever :emoticon-0143-smirk) has suddenly seen some remarkable thing that no one in two seasons has seen? I don't think it's beyond belief to believe that NcNally is thinking along the same lines as most Norwich fans and saying 'give him another chance, he's not going anywhere'

Woah ! What you're forgetting is that useless twat of a manager (who Imo will now disappear into oblivion), who bought him in the first place drained every ounce of confidence from him and the rest of our forward players. He very nearly ruined Hooper's career as well for that matter. Ricky has a clean slate under AN as does everyone else and I say give him another chance.

As I said above, I give in, you can't argue with a brick wall!

I just don't understand the vitriol in your view of RvW!
I think I had made it more than clear as to the reasons, but you are entitled to disagree with me, as most seem to do!! That's what fuels debate and why I like reading this forum. Although I must try and engage in more topics than just banging on about my loathing of RvW lol.

First game of the season 2013-14:
Ruddy
Turner
Martin
Whittaker
Garrido
Johnson
Howson
E.Bennett
Redmond
Hoolahan
Van Wolfswinkel

We can field a better line-up than that now eh?
My god no! I'll be really depressed if we start with: Turner, Whittaker, Garrido, Bennett or Wolfswinkle.

I'd like Bennett and Winkle to get a chance, but not first team players for me. The rest I hope we sell.

But your reasons don't add up, you mention nothing of the fact that the manager's system gave him no help at all, he spent a long time injured and was even played when injured making it worse, you call him a bench-warmer on loan, he, in fact, scored seven goals! The way you talk about him I'm beginning to believe he must have shagged your wife! <yikes>

Superman and myself (where's he gone by the way) have had many a heated debate about this, as he was RvWs biggest fan. And I will say the same thing as I said then. Only time will prove me right, haha, and so far it has!!

Missed one golden (saved by the 'keeper)
Shanked a silver one
Scuffed a bronzish
And hit the target with a couple of tins

Pretty much his best performance for us since Everton home 2013

This remarkable thing you talk about clearly is there. He was a highly rated and relatively successful striker when we signed him. He clearly has some talent. Last season he started 18 and was brought on in another 10. He scored 9 goals in all competitions, playing at a higher level that the rest of the squad that season. He's a significantly better player than your giving him credit for.
I'm not denying that his season with us was a failure, for a multitude of reasons for which some but not all were his fault and his confidence is clearly very low. He's definitely worth an opertunity to play in an attacking and creative team. I'd start him in the league cup and give him a chance to get some confidence.

We need to give RVWW a fresh chance. Noone wants to pay the money we want for him, coz look at his record the last 2 seasons. Any club would use that to try and get him for pennies. He's obviously a talent. He knows where the goal is. The goal is the same size everywhere. Hughton was so depressingly negative and boring, Messi would have struggled. Adams was way way out of his depth. This is the first manager since lambert, I can see motivating players and making them play out side of their talent. If Alex Neil instills the confidence and passion he usually does, and plays his attacking confident way. Maybe Ricky can show us what he can do.

To be fair Gozza's views that RvW is not good enough are not unreasonable. they're just different from yours.

Of course his view that McNally would put pressure on AN to play RvW is total nonsense

Alex Neil is partially hamstrung here. He inherited the player - the most expensive we've ever had to date, and getting rid of him at this stage, as Goss kind of suggests, would only be possible by 'mutual consent' as far as I know, which would mean paying off most, if not all of his remaining contract and getting diddly squat back in return.
QPha may work that way, but thank **** NCFC don't! <doh>
The only option I can see - unless serious interest comes in from another club (and why would it?) is to try and make it work out. Even in the short term, in the hope another club may want to take him if he does OK.
Sticking him in the under 21s and branding him a failure does no party any favours whatsoever.

Pretty much my feelings, Cromer, except that I see it as something that could well work out under AN. The main burden isn't resting on RvW this time, the system is one which suits his play far better, and we have a manager who could well make this work. For little risk, the gains could be considerable and a revived RvW could reverse the embarrassment of his 'flop' under Hughton. If it works, we gain a PL quality striker at no new cost and if it doesn't we have lost very little and can look for a new striker in January.

Christ Jeremy don't hold back tell us what you really think of the guy. Btw have you actually SEEN him play in any of the preseason games?

Although some may think I'm over the top on my critasism of RvW, I am equally at loss to Norwich fans so easily jumping to this guys defence. He has undoubtedly been a costly mistake up until this point in time, that surely goes without argument? Second chance? How about hundredth chance!! Chance after chance he was placed in the team under CH in our relegation season. Then put out on Loan to prove himself and didn't impress and ended up on the bench, then missed one (three) good opportunities in the friendly. Chances will be at a premium next season and we can't afford to keep giving this loser any more chances!! I hear rumours of us possibly shipping out Hooper and I sigh in dismay that RvW is even spoken in the same breath as Hooper, who I rate as one of our best strikers. If you want to talk about chances then Hooper is more than deserving of a regular place in the team than RvW ever will.
The costly mistake was NOT RvW that was appointing bloody Hughton & sticking with him, think you'll find Hughton getting us relegated cos us a LOT more than £8.5m

I Believe the only possible explanation to RvW ever putting on a yellow and green shirt again is that AN is getting pressure from the board (NcNally) to try and recoup some of the money on him in the vein attempt that another club may be stupid enough to want to sign him and get his inflated wages off the books.
Omg that's actually the biggest load of Bollocks I've read on this forum and considering you're up against some talent(less) Binners that's really saying something.

Can ANYBODY here really honestly see AN taking that kinda thing from McNally (or even McNally being that unprofessional)???
