Whilst I agree that Gozza's rant at RVW is somewhat over the top, way over the top in fact, I'm not entirely sure what it is he was supposed to have seen?
Most on here and AN in his post match interview were very positive about RvW's contribution! Gozza was the only one who saw a headless chicken!
Arguably it was a save anyway. It's far harder to "prettily mince about" into those positions than it is to shoot. If you can make space for yourself then you will always be a threat.
Everyone deserves a second chance, surely? To say that he is useless after being forced to play under CH, using a system that was never going to give hardly any goal scoring chances is just not fair. He needs to have attacking midfielders and wingers supporting him to help him score goals. Without that anyone would have failed under CH. I personally don't think there is a place for dedicated wingers anymore in the modern game but AN has been really good at getting the full backs forward. This will suit RvW and he deserves this chance to see if he can make it an proper team that is built to score goals.
Missed one golden (saved by the 'keeper) Shanked a silver one Scuffed a bronzish And hit the target with a couple of tins Pretty much his best performance for us since Everton home 2013
I thought he played well and deserves to at east be in the squad. We're al entitled to our opinion though.
It just feels like he feels under too much pressure. He clearly knows how best to move off of defenders to create space and he can link the ball up well but everytime he sees the net it's like he replays the whole of his season under CH and he just comes up with nothing. He's far better working on instincts than when given the time, That looping header was a good example. There was no way he should have been really testing the keeper with that but he got it on target and right under the bar which threw doubt in Adrian's mind. It's promising that he is getting into the positions and shows he still wants to work for the team, but if he doesn't sort out his shooting boots soon then there simply wont be a place for him.
Agreed, but trouble is all the other teams in the premiership haven't stood still whilst we've improved
It feels like after Brady and Wisdom have been confirmed, we're in limbo waiting for our next rumour to latch onto. Can't get too excited about a reserve goalkeeper, so it's just striker rumours really I think. I get the impression that Wisdom will be fulfilling be the extra CB cover required.
There was that Striker/CAM from Cesena mentioned yesterday. Not sure whether it is a goer or not though
I just traipsed back through the threads to find the guys name, only find that you were the one that posted about him DH
Although some may think I'm over the top on my critasism of RvW, I am equally at loss to Norwich fans so easily jumping to this guys defence. He has undoubtedly been a costly mistake up until this point in time, that surely goes without argument? Second chance? How about hundredth chance!! Chance after chance he was placed in the team under CH in our relegation season. Then put out on Loan to prove himself and didn't impress and ended up on the bench, then missed one (three) good opportunities in the friendly. Chances will be at a premium next season and we can't afford to keep giving this loser any more chances!! I hear rumours of us possibly shipping out Hooper and I sigh in dismay that RvW is even spoken in the same breath as Hooper, who I rate as one of our best strikers. If you want to talk about chances then Hooper is more than deserving of a regular place in the team than RvW ever will.
I'd love to know what qualifies you to think the exact opposite of the best manager we've had in my life-time, and I'm 67!
I agree that Hooper should be well above RvW. However, if we can't off load him, it only makes sense to try and utilise him in the team. And we are a team going in a very different direction than we were under Hughton.
I Believe the only possible explanation to RvW ever putting on a yellow and green shirt again is that AN is getting pressure from the board (NcNally) to try and recoup some of the money on him in the vein attempt that another club may be stupid enough to want to sign him and get his inflated wages off the books.
You have almost proved my point with that exact comment. We can't afford to keep trying to utilise him at the cost of being relegated again. That is just mindless to play him just because he's on high wages and no one will buy him. He has had long enough to prove himself!! If he is good enough for the Premiership why did we not keep him in the team last season and let him rip the championship apart with his prolific goal scoring abilities? He's not going to suddenly turn into this fantastic striker that we all hoped for when we signed him just because we are willing it to happen.
Sorry Dave, just to add, surely your joking right? How can you make a sweeping comment like that after half a season in the Championship? Come on!!
AN may turn out to be the best manager we've ever had, but no way can he be considered that to date. He took over a very good squad of players that were under performing under the previous incumbent and gave them belief and direction. Excellent management skills indeed but the best manager in City's history to date is a toss up between Stringer and Walker and I'm plumping for Stringer
