Well I've brought up Leon Britton three times on this very thread. Along with supporting information to back up my suggestion.

Here's the latest.

BRITTON IS STILL PART OF THE PICTURE THEN?

This was his first game of pre-season for Monk's side having stayed behind from Germany where he was told he was unlikely to feature to instead figure for the Under 21s.

His value was shown with the fact he held the armband yet his situation was underlined by the way he was brought of for Fulton at the break. The diminutive dictator was on a mission here in the first-half, doing his usual trick of breaking up play and sparking play within a couple of movements.

There was some over-hit passes, some mis-timed tackles – perhaps trying to impress too much – but overall there was a statement that he is not to be discarded too soon. Monk probably knows that and has stuck steadfast to his claim he doesn't want Britton to leave but given his ability you can see why the 32-year-old feels he can still offer someone regular reliable game time.

I'm working on my theory that if you mention something enough times on forums and rumour sites, some of them come to pass.

I wonder who our striker targets are. We are going to need 3 I think. Issiah brown, Carlton Cole and Andre Grey would be my choices.

Collocini to Crystal Palace could be happening leaving Newcastle needing a centre back - Chester, perhaps?

Dont see either happening actually. Chester is no fool and i would expect him to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks. A Saint or a Toffeeman IMO.

CLU looks CLASS, well the Chesterfield fans are bemoaning his loss. Could he be the new Quinn-iesta or better ? twt.

You would think such nonsense. Chester wont be sold for a number of reasons. The main one being we are going for a swift return to the PL.

OK

I think to bolster the frontline Shola would be ok. He's not prolific, but he might be in the Championship - he could be a Folan type super sub.

As long as we are going to invest a decent amount in at least 2 strikers, Ameobi would be a more than acceptable 3rd/4th Striker.
