Never actually watched Torchwood. It's a spinoff of Doctor Who right? What's it like? I don't fancy starting in the middle, would it be worth going back and watching the first series if you like Doctor Who?

I was always more of a Doctor Who fan myself, there's been a lot of Torchwood I think though so may take a while to go back and watch it all! Only seen a couple of episodes so can't really make a judgment

Mind you, Doctor Who has gone down the ****ter recently. Terrible story lines. Russell T Davies was by far the better writer. And I hate Matt Smith

The storyline for the last season was good. Dont like Matt Smith though.

Probably just me then haha. I found it quite boring. Maybe a better actor could've done the writing more justice. Matt Smith's a plank, he really is.

I wholeheartedly approve of Karen Gillan though.

Last season was better than the season before imo. Not as good as the ones with Tennant though.

I like Moffat though, he's the chap whos done Sherlock too.

Haven't seen much of the Sherlock series! But what I have done is pretty good. I love Martin Freeman as Watson. If only he could have done the movies with Downey Jr instead of Jude Law! Now that would've been perfect haha.
Maybe it's just Matt Smith that makes me dislikes the story lines then haha. He just bores me with his long floppy face. I'm sure someone like Tennant could have brought them to life in more ways and better ways than Smith did. I'm definitely wanting Smith to get killed off soon. As I said, hopefully a better actor could do Moffat's writing more justice!

They only made 3 episodes! Think some more are coming soon though, was hoping thats what the mid season Doctor Who break was all about.

I'd like to see Matt Smith killed off but cant see it happening until he decides to leave, which might not happen <yikes>. Last season he grew on me though, probably because I thought the writing was better.

Really? <laugh> In that case I've probably seen most of them haha. I've seen like 2 so yeah.

Yeah I read that D.W fans shouldn't expect to see much of it in the next year as Moffat's going to concentrate on more Sherlock, apparently.

You a fan of the movies? I really like Downey Jr so loved the last one and very much looking forward to this next one! Stephen Fry's playing his brother too.

SHERLOCK star Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed how he turned down the chance of another iconic role - as Doctor Who.

The actor wowed 7.5million viewers playing Holmes in the 21st Century take on the sleuth's adventures on Sunday night.

But Benedict, 34, nearly missed moving to Baker Street when the opportunity arose to take over as BBC1's other quirky clever-clogs.

He was in the frame to replace David Tennant, who handed over his Sonic Screwdriver last year.

Benedict said: "David and I talked about it but I thought it would have to be radically different.

"And anyway I didn't really like the whole package - being on school lunchboxes."

Benedict is close to Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat, also the brains behind Sherlock. The Office's Martin Freeman stars as the sleuth's sidekick Doctor Watson.

Benedict may STILL become the Doctor after TV Biz revealed Matt Smith, who replaced Tennant plans to quit after the next series. Meanwhile Benedict's performance as Holmes has already won him an army of fans.

Viewers are clamouring for a full series of the modern version of Conan Doyle's classic after cautious bosses made just three episodes.

Moffat, 48, has hinted he plans to make more episodes but will have to juggle it with his Doctor Who projects. Both shows are made at the BBC's Cardiff base.

A Beeb insider said: "To say the top brass are made up by the Holmes ratings is an understatement. They really want to do more so the question is not really if, but how and when can we do them."

Holmes proved a bigger hit than Top Gear, which had A-listers Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise blasting around in the "reasonably priced car".

But Benedict missed seeing his show's debut as he was stuck in jams - on the London street where Holmes lived. Moffat invited the star to his house for the premiere.

He revealed on Twitter: "B. Cumberbatch coming to my house to watch Sherlock but he's stuck in traffic. On Baker Street." Elementary error, Benedict.
