Don't forget to thank anybody that has contributed financially, Joe, praise the in-laws, and most importantly . . . . don't get pissed :emoticon-0145-shake

No in laws mate, no father and her mam passed away last year aged only 46. Sad times. Also had no financial help we have had to do it all ourselves. So general wedding speech kinda goes out the window, so I'm struggling

    I went with this line...

"I have chosen not to rehearse a bunch of worn-out cliches about how good looking my wife is, instead I thought I would say something spontaneous based on what was on my mind when I saw her in the dress for the first time, conveniently I was completely lost for words, so, moving on...".

It broke the ice with the crowd and got a laugh, got a few lingering nerves out the way and of course I then back tracked and said a few cliche bride compliments.

Another tip - use an iPad if possible, paper shaking through nerves can be awful and looks daft on the video, iPads keep that **** under control.

Don't worry, as per vinegars article. Some people are unaware of things and I wouldn't take things to heart. Especially the stuff you come out with ha ha :)

Be natural and speak from the heart...Remember you have an audience who are going to applaud you no matter how good (or bad) you are..

The groom just really needs to thank everyone involved and don't forget to mention how you and your lass met and how your love has grown..The best man has the hardest job as he has got to play to the audience..I have been best man quite a few times and it is much worse than being the groom when it comes to making the speeches.

Very rarely mate. Used to play a holiday park every November on Windermere but that seems to have dwindled away sadly. I'll keep you posted if I get anything that way on

My speech started with something along the lines of "it feels like less than a year since we first started seeing each other and here we are getting married (we married on the 364th day of our relationship) then followed it with "I have to thank my beautiful wife for being drunk enough to accept my phone numbe the night we met, drunk enough to agree to go out with me, drunk enough to accept my proposal, and where the hell sells drink at this time in the day?" (10am wedding!) worked well and settled the nerves!

My brother (best man) finished his speech with "I think we can all agree, Sarah isn't half the woman your ex wife was"... My ex wife was 18 stone!! My now wife is less than 8 stone!!

    Congratulations mate <ok>

Your speech will be a doddle tbh.

You've already spoken to almost everyone there, and sometimes in a group, so this is just a bigger group.
Everyone is already on your side, and full of joy and your drink .......... you can't fail.

Quickly thank everyone in the place, from the minister to the waitresses and you'll have them eating out of your hand.

A loving & sincere message to your new wife, not rehearsed/found on line/from one of the deadbeats on here, and it's job done <ok>

Keep it simple and speak from the heart Joe. Nowt else matters.

..and don't nail the drink too early. Plenty of time for that!
