moreno can't defend enrique is to lazy to train and get fit and his knee is dodgy. he's not bothered to give his all wisdom was tried in preseason gomez looked ok there in short I think we'll leak off this area but unless balotelli goes we won't be seeing one in. I think we are expecting to sell borini and lambert just to balance the books. total 9/10mil needed there.
Fair enough, similar to last year you seem to have made 8 odd signings, do you think its too many or was it needed? I agree 5th is best for you this year, I don't see the top 4 changing at all (teams in it).
Moreno can't defend for **** and sin't much better going forward (young and will improve if coached right) Enrique injury prone and looks massively out of favour (probably going to be leaving soon) Flanno easily our best option but injury prone (out until at least the new year) Gomez as been good (I'm told, don't watch pre-season anymore) Sakho could play there but not a great option and means one of Toure or Lovren has to play at CB Wisdom could play there but not really been tested yet. Markovic played left and right WB last year so maybe a last resort...?
I think that's it. If we do anymore it will be the lb from Psg that seem to be linked with but I think club are now concentrating on clearing out some players. I think we'll be there or there abouts fighting for 4thwith few others like last year and depending on injuries and a bit of luck could decide who gets it. Just hope we can win something this year, preferably the Europa if not the FA cup.
I think Moreno isn't quite as bad as some people make out. Very raw, and needs to be exposed to some good tactical coaching, whether he will with us remains to be seen, he's actually a decent attacker too, just suffered last season with numbers in the box. Enrique is crocked, why is he even still on the wage bill? He was a tank when he first joined and it's been a slow, lazy decline since then. Gomez could probably do a job, it's too early to say, he's looked good in pre-season but meh, different kettle off fish. I'd be happy enough going in to the new season with Moreno and Gomez competing for LB. Can't fix everything in one go.
Which one Bertrand or Targett? Bertrand will be £15m + £10m English tax so £25m please Targett will be £10m + £10m English tax + £10m Saints academy tax so £30m please Nice doing business (again!) lads
I go along with this. He has the potential, it's whether he gets the coaching and is capable of taking it on board. The players who have the talent but can't / won't make it work are the most frustrating to watch. Nani is a good example. Massive amount of talent but too thick to make the most of it. He worked hard but his decision making was and still is awful. Anderson was another one. A fantastic prospect who was capped by Brazil at 19 and probably peaked around that time but was too lazy to put the effort in and has now wasted what was a very promising career.
To be fair I was impresed with Moreno early in the season, but no one on here seems to rate him (fair enough, you've all seen a lot of him than i have). I know his positioning was suspect but he's young, surely that comes with time? does no one on here think he could make it with you?
Looking at the teams above us: Chelsea - haven't strengthened the first team at all, Begovic seems unescassary and isn't better than Cech and Falcao from last season was probably equal to Drogba Cech > Begovic Falcao = Drogba Plus they've lost the left back. Man city have improved but only slightly, Sterling will be a great addition for them but he won't win you the title/cups and Delph is a poor bench player. Don't think they've sold anyone so far. Sterling > Nasri and Navas Fernandinho, Yaya, Fernando > Delph Man U have improved the most, strengthen really well in the middle but they really need to sign a defender and at least a back up striker. Darmein > all the left backs they have Schweinsteiger > carrick but Schneiderlin = Carrick Depay is better than all your wingers bar Di Maria Arsenal have signed only one person, if they wanna keep putting there head in the sand about any other positions then they could be in trouble. Cech > Ospina/Szeney
He could, last season was an odd one to judge any new signings on. We were just all over the place for several reasons
Fair point. Moreno is good going forward but raw defensively He started off very positively but as the season went on he went backwards but this was largely down to the various other issues, instabilities and inconsistencies in the team Players like Moreno, Markovic, Lallana, Lovren I think need to be given a chance in a more stable, solid 11 which hopefully we can find this season and therefore get the best out of these guys Balotelli, Borini and Lambert you can see are just never going to amount to anything here in any set-up
Moreno is a good player IMO - poor last year but certainly wasn't helped by Rodgers. Give him the season in a back 4, not wing back role, alongside Sakho and he will improve. The last thing he needs is to be starting in such a high position or alongside Lovren. Having said that, I would happily take Digne - another talented youngster. Clyne will not solve the issues but he's a step in the right direction - he's far better than Johnson in every way. If we have Can, Hendo, Milner midfield, I think it will give the defence a lot more protection. Won't be as good as having a proper DM with Hendo and Can in front but still an improvement. Skrtel is still an issue for me (as many already know) - he makes far too many mistakes year in year out, and is fault for a lot of goals be it directly or indirectly. But again, he's just one of the problems in the whole structure. 2 big problems with the defensive structure have now gone - Gerrard and Johnson, and if Clyne and Can are the replacements, that's a solid improvement.
Hopefully with benteke in the middle Moreno will look better going forward. Hed offen get to the line look up and have 0 options and have to cut back. He has no real trickery just pace so can't beat a man there. Hopefully now he has benteke if he gets down the line he can actually whip in a cross.
Yes cheslea have not improved but their team was already by far and away the best i nthe league. Every position was good. falcao as cover in unimpressive. City: i don't think they've improved. yaya is another few month older and heading into a long season.they are apparently going to shed 2 fowards at least so actually if anything thy look weaker in depth. my view is they will be weakest Utd are certinly improved. They need a CB and striker imo. as you said. then i'd put them challenging. Arsenal filled a huge hole IMO. CM if the cock plays is good. they'v a shed load of options in front. Giroud is very effective but lacks class v top players. welbeck is ****. they need a striker. All in all iam only lokoing at city as the side who look weakest and am wondering if 70 points would be enough. Even how poor we were for 3/4 months last year we still got 62 points. I think we can get to 70 if we are consistent this year. 7 points from 4 games will get us 66...
Fair assessment Btw I know we're trying to corner the market in LBs but Darmian will be our RB! Often plays RWB which worries the fck out of me that LVG will try 3 at the back again. The Schneiderlin/Carrick comparison is a bit off imo. Schneiderlin is more the box to box mf whereas Carrick is mainly deep lying. I think we'll see a choice between Schwein & Carrick starting...or neither depending on the opposition.
schneiderlin should be in fornt of carrick/sweinsteiger as his positioning is not aways perfect. he likes to go forward. It might be a 4-5-1 but who knows. IMO 3 at the back is pointless as you take a player out of attack and move them to spare at the back unless you do what LFc did with wingers playing wide.
Lost in translation Lets wait and see. Darmian has started both preseason games with McNair replacing him at HT. Valencia injured but I think it may all be more mind games from LVG to keep players on their toes.
Yeh agree completely with all of that. Re the midfield I hope we're not playing 2 of them every game. There will be games where we only need one of them. That allows us to have another attacking/creative mf or winger on the pitch.
