Don't forget he had a fairly successful time at both Celtic and Fulham before joining NCFC. He didn't get where he is today by being ripped off, hoodwinked, taken for a mug etc. And don't also forget, there's over a month of this poxy window yet to run <doh>
Why it doesn't close - apart from emergency / crisis loans, before the season kicks off is ****ing ludicrous!

Yes Cromer, as I say I do trust McN to deliver. I just thought it would be a bit easier than it seems to be. I guess everyone wants their slice of Premiership cash. (I think Brucie just wants his Snoddy money back!)

I'm not really panicking because I think we only need a couple more players in and there's still plenty of time for us to do that.

There's a lot of very average teams in the bottom half of the Premier League which is another reason why I'm not panicking. I'm pretty confident we'll be fine.

I don't agree. There's no way Brady is worth £8m. There seems to be an element of QPRism here. Yes, Olsson might miss the first match but that hardly justifies spending £8m for another option at LB. Yes, he can also play LM as well, but so can Marcos Alonso who has a similar amount of PL experience and is available for less than £3m. The £5m difference could be much better spent on a quality CB and a quality striker, IMO.

Couldn't agree more. If we can't get Brady for somewhere near to 5m then we should move on. We definitely need a quality CB & a quality striker.

Brady is worth 5/6 million in my book - and the low ball bids weren't far off embarrassing - yes, you go in low, but you don't go in so low that you piss off the seller so that he adds on an extra 2 mill to teach you a lesson. Hull/Bruce are playing this well on my book - if it were my club I'd be impressed. They'll still get 5/6 in January...

I am beginning to get a little worried, and I barely want any reinforcements. I think we desperately need a CB, LB and RB.

Just hoping that lightening Isn't striking twice with Mr Darnborough...

Disagree gruff. No way will Brady hold his value in January. If hull are thereabouts he won't be sold and if they are mid table looking at another season in the champ they will have the choice of sell for 2 or 3 mil or watch him pull out of tackles for the rest of the season to avoid injury and then walk away to the club of his choice. Not a great choice but better to have the cash than a disgruntled player about to walk out on you for nothing.

    • From a Q & A session that Paddy Davitt had online earlier today.
    • Lots of unrest / vitriol about lack of purposeful transfer activity,
    • as you might expect, knowing NCFC fans <yikes>
    • Apologies for the bullet point markers, my I.T. skills won't let me delete them <laugh>

    • I see the latest on Robbie Brady is we have to up our £8m offer... Is it likely?

@Woody: Doubt it very much. Positions are becoming entrenched. #hcfc for me are in the weaker bargaining position.

I'm not worried, most of these players are the same ones we had 2 good seasons with in the Premier League and now with a manager that seems to be able to get the best out of the players I'm sure we'll be fine.

But I'm sure we make another 2 signings.

We'll be signing Brady for 8 million I would imagine.

To put it into context, Snodgrass was 7 million I believe, this year the PL money has gone up, Brady is probably on a par with Snodgrass, both are PL experienced Internationals.

What a load of rot all this rubbish about lack of activity blah blah

For heavens sake they are just ball kickers our squad of kickers got us up we have added a couple of gooduns and I'm happy
If our team picker can grab a couple more that's ok but otherwise lets go with what we've got
Squad attitude and motivation far outweighs a few " names"
There's nowt to be frustrated about we are in the PL smile be happy leave frustration to the tractor bors

I don't mind us not signing players if the policy is we don't need them.

What I don't like is going after players and not getting them. It tells us the manager wants elements strengthening and they haven't been.

    Totally agree <ok>

Even if we don't sign anyone (which of course we will, there is still plenty of time left and I have no idea why some people are starting to panic, it's nonsense) I'm confident we'll have more than enough to stay up. This is a better and more experienced squad than the one that went down, it also has a winning mentality, a settled and happy dressing room, a positive feeling around the whole club and of course a much better manager. There will be some poor teams this year, Villa are surely in all sorts of bother, I think Watford will struggle as will Sunderland, and I'm confident we'll finish above Bournemouth and maybe even pick one or two others off, and that's even before we add players to strengthen our squad, which will happen sooner or later so let's be a bit more patient and put our faith in AN and D-Mac to bring in the right players as I'm sure they will.

Brady won't be sold for 5/6m in January - he'll only have six months left on his contract FFS!

Hull have put ludicrous price tags on three of their players, all of whom (supposedly) want to leave the club, but the interested parties have turned away. By all accounts, Hull barely have enough players for pre-season, so it makes sense that they don't want to sell for anything other than silly money. I'm sure their fans are delighted at this stance. But it's a dangerous game - they clearly aren't able to buy unless they sell (which if you look at our transfer policy was exactly the same for us last summer) and they are going to be left with three players who might be very good at Championship level, but might be difficult to motivate.

So you might applaud Hull for sticking by their guns, and their fans might be delighted, but it is an easy negotiation position to take - we won't sell unless the fee is £x gazillion, even if selling makes complete commercial sense, etc. That will be fine if they get promoted with those three players suitably motivated. That might happen. But the alternative is that those three players can't be arsed and their value evaporates and Hull are left with valueless expensive players and still in the Championship.

It might work. Our club chose not to follow that line when they sold Snodgrass and Fer, which I personally think was the right decision. IMO we won't be signing Brady for silly money, which is all Hull will accept, so we might as well forget about him and move on. Hull hold the aces, fair play to them, it's now their risk.

I don't know why people are panicking about signings though. Loads of time as danary says.

Pretty much tend to agree Rob - we don't need to 'held to ransom. by the likes Steve Bruce and there is still over 5 weeks left of the transfer window.
I hope we are able to sign some new players, but even if we don't have any 'stellar' signings, IMO, we will be going into the new season in a stronger position than we did 2 seasons ago and in AN, a manager who doesn't 'big up' the opposition before every game!!!!

Signing no players is better than signing the wrong players.

Indeed it does <ok> Basically could have been written by one of many who contribute on here, based on the sentiments expressed.
Thought this bit was a tad harsh though:

Cast your mind back to our first season under Paul Lambert in this league. You score one, we’ll score one. Attack together, defend together. Never give up until the final whistle.
In contrast to this, under Chris Hughton the style of football was negative and defensive, and invited the likes of Hazard and Suarez to have a very pleasurable time at Carrow Road.

    <whistle>
