I do not think he has been that bad. He could have left villa for nothing but instead he signed a new contract which guaranteed villa 8 mill. Better then nothing.

Personally i would just say, either add another 50k into my salary so that i can keep Sterling company on the bench, or put a release clause in if i do not start x amount of games next season.

Sounds like he is going to remain at Everton? Why do our players not show this kind of loyalty? Everton are in a similar place to us, fighting to keep in the top 6/7 on a regular basis,so why the difference in attitude?

I would say that Morgan has shown 7 years of loyalty, even Lala and Clyne were professional until the bigger offer lured them away. Its the way of the world, I do not know your job, but if someone offered you 3x your salary plus other benefits would you not consider it?
Stones probably knows at Everton he will play regular football, at Chelsea he will be 3rd 4th choice for the next 3 years, earn more but his career will stall. Well done for him putting his career first

Or a bench bonus. If they are on the bench x amount of times, they get a bonus of £x. As they probably have all kinds of performance-related bonuses written into their contracts which they'd otherwise be unable to achieve the requirements for.

Well firstly Chelsea and Man City are clubs you can convince young players not to join because they stockpile players and don't use them. Lots of young players have gone to (or stayed at) those clubs and seen their supposedly promising careers slide down the toilet. We haven't sold any players to either of those clubs recently.

Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs don't do that. At least not to anywhere near the same extent. Lambert didn't go to Liverpool to start the majority of games while Lovren and Lallana are on the bench because they aren't as good as they thought, not because Liverpool spunked £50m on a superstar player in their position.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure Everton pay bigger wages than Saints do.

Looks like Delph is the latest graduate of the Roy Hodgson school of how-to-deal-with-a-transfer-to-a-big club that is the England squad.
He will go the way of poor old SRL, sitting on the bench at Man City.

It's not really a thread about Everton and Stones though.
Well it is about loyalty and people being lured away from clubs by large amounts of dosh. This subject has been done to death on other threads so no need for another one. I'll merge it to the Transfers thread.

From Sky:

EX-SAINT OSVALDO IN DEMAND
Former Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo is wanted by Real Betis, according to the player’s agent.
Osvaldo, who was loaned out three times during his ill-fated stint at St Mary’s, is a free agent after Southampton terminated his contract earlier this month.
The former Espanyol forward could be on his way back to La Liga though, with his representative Dario Decoud revealing that newly-promoted Betis have contacted him to enquire about the 29-year-old’s situation.
He told AS: “The [Betis] sporting director (Eduardo Macia) called me to tell me that there is interest, that the coach (Pepe Mel) likes the player. There was no concrete offer, but they are a great entity and Daniel, who triumphed there, would love to return to Spain.”
