You made three crap bids, we told you they were crap, I think that's fair enough.

If anything, Norwich have been unscrupulous, trying to unsettle a player while bidding well below his actual value.

I'll let you off though, I'm nice like that.

Islam Slimani could just be lazy journalism. Then again might there be a possible swap deal with RvW?

Doubt it, Sporting can't afford Rip van Winkel's wages

While you're here, and seem keen to broker more diplomatic discourse, I can take advantage and pick your brains! :

In the event that we do end up signing Brady, and as we're unlikely to play with wing-backs, what is he better at in your opinion, left-back or left-midfield?

He's very versatile, he was largely employed as a wing back for us, but he can just as easily play left back, left wing, or even on the left of a front three(he's also played as a second striker for us on occasion). I'm not sure if I'd really say he was better on the wing or in defence, I suppose it depends on who else is in your squad. When we switched from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 in games, he was almost always moved to the wing, but that was largely because Robertson invariably came on and he's a left back.

If Jorge Jesus supposedly wants RvW and not Slimani, the only way I can see Slimani signing is if we get rid of RvW as part of the deal.

If we do have any dealings with Lisbon, I suspect they'll come late in the window. They have champions league qualifiers at the moment, and the outcome of those will have a huge impact on their transfer budget. I've read rumours that failing to make the group stage would bankrupt the club. Alternatively, they might want business done early so they've got the best options possible for the qualifiers.

That's also one of the reasons you won't get Van Dijk now.

As I said before: "Islam Slimani could just be lazy journalism. Then again might there be a possible swap deal with RvW?"

To me, it could be either. Sporting seem to want to move on Slimani and If we want to move on RvW, there is a potential deal there, but is Slimani what we need? Some of the reports are talking about £10m+ for Slimani and I can't see us paying that, so it may just be a load of press sensationalism. It's very hard to judge 'what is actually what' here.

Going back to Brady, it would seem from this that no new bid has been made, let alone accepted.

Just a load of rumours then?

Good point about van Dijk. Now I can convince myself that we've not signed anyone yet because all our targets are champions league players. Phew.

Slimani in terms of stats and situation is so like RvW its ridiculous. Same club, roughly the same goalscoring record, similar asking price, both cut down because the club want to sell. Both unproven in England. Slimani is a little older.

It almost feels like we should just try RvW again, rather than faff with a transfer we'd probably lose money on, for perhaps not that much greater chance of success.

So you ignore my second sentence in the post <doh>

BBC Humberside are far more reliable than the HITC bollocks so you're an idiot to give the £6m rumour any credence at all.

Seriously, WUM elsewhere. Can't you see that no-one on this board really cares about the Brady saga - it's so boring and your endless overreactions to every invented rumour simply serve to make it even more boring. Come back when the deal is done or not at all. Thanks.

I'm even excited about Brady in the slightest.

Good utility player but doesn't get me going at all.

Point is, much as I respect McNally and his hard-nosed business attitude (especially when dealing with totally unprofessional outfits like Hull Tigers <yikes> :emoticon-0105-wink: ) I think he owes it to Alex Neil to push the boat out a bit in the light of what AN has achieved in his short time at the club. Don't really want to risk unsettling the gaffer and he clearly sees Brady as a missing piece in his jigsaw?

Although if the recent Livery process is anything to go by, we will probably finally agree a fee for Brady sometime in August only for AN to meet him and say actually no thanks. <laugh>

I hope that we are actually interested in Slimani prior to a deal for RvW otherwise this could end up like the Becchio and Morrsion deal
