Doesn't seem to feel "at home" does he? He seems like he's partially muted when the camera is around/or just like that in general. I you never see him with the other guys in the "Tigers Players Clip" either. He has been on camera once, looked at the camera and mumbled something before running away.

    Just something I noticed......

And McLean really likes to get some attention.....

to me he just seems a bit shy.. he's a natural finisher so I expect goals from him next season

I'm not putting too much stock in that Player cam footage.

If someone stuck a Camera in my face at half past seven, I'd appear a hell of a lot more reserved than Simpson did. Either that or I'd punch the person. He's probably not a morning person. Wait and see if they do any footage at a sensible hour.

He doesn't seem loud and cocky on the pitch really so can't imagine him being one of the players who makes everyone laugh at training.

Probably true, but he should try to hang around with the guys more (even though we don't get to see very much, so what do I know)
I reckon that he will get his breakthrough for us this year!

Takes all sorts to make a team Febbos, you have your quiet ones and also your gobshites, it's all about getting a good balance!

Yeah true, I am usually the quiet one, but I'm not sure I've ever heard him speak (besides some interview before a game), that's all :)

    Gobshites= McLean, McShane, Cairney?

But I do think he is quite popular, when he got his first goal for us against Bristol all the players went over to celebrate with him, yes because it was a long time coming but I think they seemed genuinley happy for him. I was also at the Sheffield game the next week when he scored two again and the players were jumping all over him, we couldnt believe it people were shouting 'He's a goal machine!' it was brilliant!

I liked that as well, everyone was starting to really get on his back after his misses at PNE and Crystal Palace, and there was an NP piece in the paper that week about how Simpson was going to have to start scoring because everyone had got injured. He did exactly that and our season got going!

I know, much prefer him to Mclean, personally I think Mclean is useless.

'Quiet footballers' would be a good thread I think, the most famous one in the UK would be Paul Scholes I reckon, never up for interviews was he.

True, but you havn't seen him around on Tigers Player lately (only picked from what I've seen there). You saw him on the airport but I havn't seen him since (!)
    Suspicious.....

during the off-season we've had all sorts of weird threads, the worst being "which City player makes the best curry?"

I met Jay about six months ago eating out at Frankie & Bennys at st Andrews quay in west Hull.

Very quiet lad, softly spoken but a real gentleman. He and his girlfriend were very friendly although his girlfriend was pre occupied feeding their new baby.

He is not the sort of lad who is in your face, but if approached will speak for as long as he wants to. Comes across more as a student of the game to me.

He asked lots of questions about the club before he got here, discussed how much things have changed in football etc. Seems to analyse everything he does & obviously try and become a better footballer.

A solid family orientated man who isn't out on the town every night like some, and by the looks of it likes to keep himself very fit.

I think this season will define him among the city faithful & i'm sure he will score more goals than most think he has the ability to score.

I personally rate him very highly and think we have got one of the real talents for a few years to come.

    UTT
