Sorry but some of the above is bordering on rocky ground. You can leave yourself a bit open to questioning by claiming someone is wrong for giving an opinion on something that doesn't agree with your opinion. Both of them are opinions and there aren't any firm facts to prove that a player is poor/decent/good/amazing/world class.

So if I said Titus Bramble had the qualities to become a better attacker than Messi, that by your definition wouldn't be wrong? Of course opinions can be wrong. But I digress. Needless to say, I was being a little forceful with my opinion - as TheBear was also - but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Arteta shouldn't be used as a back up if Coq gets injured.

And surely any goal you concede could be significant, and you don't know until the end of the game if it was or wasn't significant - just as the 5 goals Chelsea conceded against Spurs were significant, yet the one goal we conceded against Crystal Palace wasn't significant in the end, because we won 2-1. You can't dismiss all the goals Chelsea conceded as insignificant, yet use a different rule to measure the goals we conceded, and say they significant as this is neither fair nor consistent.

Except I'm not doing this...

I never claimed the criteria just applies to Chelsea. And with the rest of your post, surely it depends on the context of the game. If a team is 3-0 up and they concede a goal in the 94th minute with 20 seconds left to play, that goal conceded is meaningless because they still end up with 0 points. The point I was making was that there are too many variables to consider when a team concedes, you can't just look at it purely on goals conceded alone.

Arteta was ruled out for a significant amount of last season, while playing in front of a patched up and out of form defence. While IMO he's not the greatest DM (though to be fair he acts more as a deep lying playmaker, setting the tempo, keeping possession and quickly transitioning play from defence to attack), he does bring a lot of positives to the team. And it seems a bit unfair to lambast him for our poor defensive performance in the 1st half of last season when he was injured for a lot of it and he wasn't even close to the only poor performer. Santi could barely string a pass together, Ramsey kept losing the ball (when fit, though he wasn't fully fit until Jan), Merts was very poor, Kos injured/playing with an injury, Chambers was an emergency for almost every defensive position ect.

I agree with most of what you're saying here with regards to other players being at fault too, but Arteta was one of our main players for the 2013/14 season as well and he just didn't cut it for me. Likewise whenever he played last season, he just didn't do the role well enough for my liking. I already said I don't mind him sticking around, but if Coquelin gets injured and we're relying on him to fill the gap, I just can't see us getting the results we want.

Really?

If that's true then it's a good deal, as I'd imagine Gala should do very well this season, and we'd get a lot of those add ons if Pod does well (which he should do in that league with his left foot).

I'm just hoping he leaves his boot in on RVP when Gala play Fenebache

Mikel Arteta facing weeks out after new Arsenal injury blow

This was the reason why many of us have been arguing for Wenger to get a DM. Arteta gets injured in pre bloody season, if that wasn't sign enough then I don't know what is. The guy is far too injury prone and couple that with a questionable Flamini as back up, it isn't looking so great for DM back up.
No, we are just moaning ungrateful fans. We shouldn't demand that we buy a DMF or complain about lack of depth. Let's just go into another season and rue not having enough players to "challenge" for the title once again.

If Arsene doesn't sign anyone to strengthen DM in this window then the January window is his last chance for me. And if he doesn't sign anyone in the January window then the summer window 2016 is his last chance for me. And if he doesn't sign anyone in that window then the January 2017 is his last chance for me.

Nice to see your not sitting on the fence...

Krystian Bielik :)

There's only one paper reporting this injury, and it's not fully confirmed. Plus the paper itself says he trained, but sat out the game, so doesn't sound like a serious if any injury.

Best alert the board you're unhappy then. I imagine they'll arrange his taxi there and then.

I'm still amazed that Evans is being rumoured to command such a high price - he's very average, he's not needed by his current team and only has 1 year left on his contract. Yet amounts like £10m are being bandied around!!!

I'm glad that the rumours of him going to us have quieted down, as that would be an even more ridiculous signing than Silvestre! (and that was bad enough)
