According to The Times, Palace interested. Apparently he has a £3.5m release clause triggered by relegation. How much did we pay for him?

From the little I've seen, no great loss if he goes.

We need to keep McCarthy because he is a good keeper and one for future but how does he shift Green? I can see his frustration but he will only be the No2 at Palace anyway? I would give him the chance and see where we go from there. It's great having 2 good keepers but it will always cause problems

He should have joined Liverpool instead of us, he would have got much more game time, with Rodgers unsure about Mignolet.

If Green doesn't want to go we have to offload him.

I really feel that we need to keep McCarthy as as future keeper and allow him to assume the #1 spot this season.

Rob Green has been a good servant to our club, but time for him to move on, or be satisfied sitting on the bench whilst we pay him a big salary in his final year (would have been ditto at Chelsea).

Spot on Kilburn

Agree with the above. I like Green but for the greater good of the club I'd like McCarthy to get a run of games. He looked excellent for Reading and the good form of Green has kept him out but he's 25 and way too good to be a sub for a Championship team.

I'm not too sure on either Green or McCarthy. I would swap one or both of them (Plus cash or player/s) for Speroni. He is the better keeper.

Thought he had 90 minutes against Monaco.....wonder if is was "making your mind up time" for Chris.
Agree with Swords and 999s .....not sure on McCarthy. Possibly Chris is finding it difficult to drop Green on merit.....and if he saying to the kids ...If your good enough...you are in the team....then he has a major problem with the goalies...

With you 100% on this nines.

Speroni is a far better 'keeper than both of them.

Mind you, I think tha Alice fans would be a bit miffed if this was to occur! Would be the end of Pardew's welcome home!

Lucky s@@s...Good player, but probably done his season (s) in the Championship and this will be a big step up for him

Quiz question ....................name the players who in the last two seasons have played on both winning teams in the championship playoffs (O Neill) and on both losing teams (Bamford)

Don't rate Bamford, lazy and drifts in and out of games

But he certainly has the knack for scoring goals in the Championship - this will be his opportunity to step up, as Charlie did, and score goals in the Premier League.

At this point, sad to say, McCarthy is as good as gone with that buy-out clause.

Really hope we give McCathy a run. He was at least a good Keeper. Green is over rated and doubt he will get better than his up and down performances with us.

Sky Sports reporting its almost done, £3.5m and that we're in for Guedioura in return.

Think he was on loan at Watford last year?
