Looks like Gray has signed a new deal for Brum. Thought he was always unlikely as a target but seems the door is now shut on him moving this summer.
He was actually a decent player several years ago, think his family had a lot of trouble, maybe some of them murdered or something, can't be bothered checking- probably why he let himself go, no reason why he couldn't still have a touch of class
Sorry to clutter this thread with irrelevant nonsense. But I wish to declare myself as officially a little concerned by the lack of transfer activity. I've not yet reached the level of moderately concerned however. But it's coming.
Besiktas want N'Doye, but he'd prefer to stay in the Premier League, the Italians haven't offered enough for Hernandez yet and we've had no actual bid for Jelavic as far as I'm aware, just lots of rumours of interest.
This is just getting ridiculous. We can't stall all transfers until those three shift. We also need another keeper in all likelihood.
Yes, we're 14 days in but I can't see anything happening until we get rid of three players (who consider themselves too good for this league) and get some money in. Trouble is if we can manage to off-load Hernandez we ain't going to get much for him and his new club would have to have an owner who is deaf, dumb, blind and a guide dog without a warning bark. Got a lot of time for Jelly but his name in Croatian is Dick E. Knee and nobody wants another Bullard. N'Doye appears to be up his @rse so we have problems.
I think a lot of people are getting a little bit confused. SB isn't trying to force the 3 strikers out of the club, he said they were free to leave if they wanted to go to PL/top division teams (and that other clubs match their asking prices). Although there has been interest from other clubs for all of them, none of them have made noises that they want to leave (unsurprising given the money they are on) or that they are unhappy or unwilling to play. That isn't the same as not wanting them to be here. It's true that they're probably our highest earners, but shifting them is only to get other striker targets in, I don't think it'll stop SB bringing in other players in other areas of the squad, it'll just mean we'll have to be a bit more creative with transfer targets. There is, of course, the scenario that we won't move any of them on and they'll all be here come September. Which wouldn't be a bad strikeforce to have at all. We all seem to have assumed that they're now wantaway players with no interest in playing and I think both the club and SB probably expected there to be a queue of clubs to sign them, but I don't doubt for a second that our manager wouldn't be against having those three to choose from come the first game of the season.
I'm not fussed if we keep them and thus don't sign any strikers. But we need more midfielders, that's pretty obvious.
I've seen no evidence to suggest that their ability will be affected by the league they play in, they haven't given off any signs that they're unhappy here. Jelavic has played in the SPL, Hernandez in Serie B and N'Doye played in the Danish Superliga for years, it's not like they haven't played at that level before.
Yeah of course, we're thin on the ground but we need to make sure we get the right targets in. I'd rather we took a more calculated approach to this transfer window and got some good quality players. Plus we have the loans to utilise as well, we don't know who'll be available to us later on in the window.
Seconded. I hope its quiet and we keep all three of them. Maybe shift Hernandez as he is a tosser. Add a couple in midfield to replace the coke fiend and Quinny and we are good to go. Palaicos might be the first replacement
We can barely manage a 4-4-2 with the players available at the moment... Keepers McGregor Jakupovic Watson Defence Lenihan Chester Maguire Dawson Davies Bruce Robertson Townsend Midfield Elmo Brady Huddlestone Diame Snodgrass Meyler Strikers Aluko Jelavic N'Doye Hernandez Jahraldo-Martin Defence isn't really an issue, Strikers wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for the fact they're almost all expected to leave and most of the central midfield are currently injured(the list obviously include all the young lads who may, or may not, figure in Bruce's plans).
