Add Welbeck to that line up BB and boy do we have an exciting squad.

For me the answer is goals and assists from all over the pitch and plenty of options for the manager to use. In Larsson, Vaughan, Gardener, Wickham, Won and maybe Welbeck, we'd have options aplenty and quality ones at that.

I've gone off the N'Zog signing as he may not fit into the plans now and may mean less chance of landing DW?

It's the best we've had since the great Reid side, i personally think it's on flair player shhort of being superb.

Welbeck will fit the bill for me.

The width issue remains, but Sessegnon can drift left and cut inside, he does it at such pace with the ball, that it doesn't give the oppo reaction time.

I can't shake the nagging thought that we miss a trick by not getting a proper left winger in though, hopefully we will do so, and i will have confidence togo with my excitement for the season

Lads. Whether we agree or disagree about KR the LB, its irrelevant as do any of you really think it would be a good idea to drop Bardsley from LB?

He looks very assured and very comfortable in that role and scored 3 goal of the season contenders last year AND scored again last night. Left back suits PB perfectly IMO as he is a cool customer at the back and as a pure defender, I dont think there is better player at the club at the minute. KR is never going to be able to oust PB from the position unless of injury or suspension.

However, we DO have a vacancy at left midfield, where KR's attacking instincts would be better served surely?

Pile our money into getting Welbeck permanently with a £15m offer and give KR the left wing berth? Tell Zog to do one and let the craas or villa squabble for his signature and £60k per week.

bardo also had the shot saved that led to gyan's equalizer v the skunks, something that got overlooked, i agree, keep bardo at left back

If we are going to keep him, play him as the left winger we are crying out for,we have plenty of cover for the left back position, and if he cannot hold down that position flog him,how many chances do we have to give him.

As long as he practices HOW TO CROSS A BLOODY FOOTBALL!!!

He can play some nice intricate stuff and passes the ball well in the centre or behind the front man but his crossing is almost as bad as mine!!

Get him running with the ball in training, get to the byline and hit some targets in the box with the ball off the ground (I don't know how you'd train it but get it sorted and he'd be a great winger!!)

Richardson is a shockingly bad left winger and despite popular belief is terrible in an advanced midfield position - don't left a few goals fool you. He may have some remaining value playing left back if we don't sign a left winger. Can't believe Richardson is still rated sohighly by so many when he's been very, very poor in 99 percent of his games.

Bardsley left back - I can't understand the people saying put a left footer there as Bardsley was so good there last season and people forget about his goals and the crosses he put in as well as how good a defender he is. We didn;t struggle down the left - our issues were in the centre of defence in the latter stages of last season I thought...

All about opinions this though

For me he is never a LB, a LWB maybe but then you need 5 at the back to cover for him when he goes flying up the wing, problem is Bardsley is a RB and not a RWB, and i also wouldnt say Brown or O`Shea are RWB either.

If we could get a RWB (Maicon would be nice but not going to happen) then you could have

--------Brown---Bramble---O`Shea----
Maicon---------------------------------Ricco
-----Gardner--Cats/Colback--Larrson
------------Sess--------------------
----------------------Gyan--------

But if we dont get a RWB ricco playing on the left (defence) puts us out of shape too much imo.

Thing is Cest, a lot of wing backs can't tackle, but one's with pace and the ability to get forward are valuable.

I thought he was improving all round in the role, prior to the injury crisis and him being forced back into midfield.

I also thought Rico was a very poor LB at first, but over time he seemed to get better and better and could be made into a very good attacking LB, his tackling and positional play did improve though awful at first. Where is his best position, I do not think he is a CM, but he did ok just behind the central striker and did score a few goals there, not sure about him as LW cannot remember him playing there too often, it tended to be fatty Reid or Steed (great on the ball but cannot score).
