'EMBARRASSING': Hull City's Steve Bruce slates Norwich City bids for Robbie Brady

HULL City boss Steve Bruce has called Norwich City's attempts to sign Robbie Brady "embarrassing" after a £3m bid from the Canaries was rejected out of hand.

Brady has been tracked by Premier League newcomers Norwich throughout the summer and it has emerged this week that three bids have all been knocked back by the Tigers.

The latest has only seen Norwich climb as high as £3m in their valuation of Brady but Bruce is adamant that his wing-back will not be leaving the KC Stadium on the cheap.

"Norwich have come in with bids for Robbie Brady but I have to say they've been embarrassing," Bruce told the Mail.

    "The supporters

should know the truth and Norwich came in two weeks ago with a bid of £2m, £2.5m and then £3m.

"That's ridiculous for someone who is 23, has played two years in the Premier League

and has become a regular international.

"When we've just got almost twice that for Tom Ince (who joined Derby for £5m). It doesn't make sense.

"We paid £2.75m for Robbie and that was three years ago.

"This can unsettle players, do this, that or the other, and it's all part of the game.

"But Robbie Brady will not be going for anywhere near that."

City have so far handled Norwich's interest with contempt.

Twelve months ago they paid £7m to sign Robert Snodgrass from the Canaries, a creative player with similar top-flight and international experience, and regard Brady as a prized asset in the wake of relegation.

The 23-year-old is currently part of City's pre-season training camp in Portugal and Bruce is making sure the saga does not become a distraction.

"Robbie's fine, he's trained well," added the City boss, a former player with the Canaries.

"I had a chat with him this week just to let him know where things stood.

"If it happens, it happens but Norwich are nowhere near the figures we would even think about accepting at the moment."

City are doing their utmost to keep Brady at the KC Stadium and that will include talks over a new contract.

The Republic of Ireland international is now in the final year of his existing deal.

The scenario also applies to Ahmed Elmohamady, James Chester, Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone, Sone Aluko, David Meyler and Allan McGregor.

A busy spell of negotiations will be staged against a backdrop of player recruitment over the next month and Bruce wants to see a number of stars commit their long-term futures to the club.

"We'd like to offer a few new contracts to a few players," said Bruce.

"We'll see how those talks go but we don't know just yet.

"There's a good number of players who are in their last year now and we want to be in a position to keep our best players. It's as simple as that.

"We've got to try and tie a few of them up if we can."

Brady has become an integral part of Bruce's plans since making a loan deal from Manchester United permanent in 2013.

The Dublin-born star helped City to promotion and has now made 124 appearances for the club, second only to Chester in the current squad.

My old man told me once about an away game he was at a long time ago, where one of our fans did that chant with Borussia Moenchengladbach <laugh>

Its giving off a mixed message to me, one moment it's saying Brady an important part of our push to get back to the PL, in another part of it, SB is more or less saying if the money's right then we'll talk, that to me doesn't sound like he's not for sale "bugger off"

I would tell everyone to **** off if they want Brady, £90m or nothing. He's worth that much anyway.

I think Norwich will come back with a £5m bid, which we'll also reject.

But if they get anywhere near the £7m mark, I expect he'll be gone.

I think 7 or 8 million is a fair price, but I'd hope we'd hold out for more. It'd cost as much to replace him with someone of equal ability (not that we'd attract them in this league) and whats the cash worth if it can't inprove is.

Had a look at the Norwich boards and the majority think they'll get him for £4m-£5m. It's quite funny really...they've only been out of the BPL for one season and already they've forgotten that the prices for players in the top league go up! If they plan on doing things on the cheap then good luck to them!

I personally think Brady could find a better team than Norwich to go to...

Hope this time around we stick to our guns and don't sell on the cheap(if we have to sell at all) after all they(Norwich) demanded 7million for Snodgrass and Brady just as good if not better.

Both good players and both worth £7-£8m each....if we sell Brady for less then the owners need a dry slap!

I dont want anyone to leave, jelavic N'Doye Brady Chester. But its a stark reality. We've been relegated all our players have a price.
Sell Brady, 10 million would be nice, and keep Jelavic. Yes please.
Would anyone want Chester to leave? No one. But if a bid of 10 million comes in, he's going.

Agree with what your saying, my point is we don't start letting them go on the cheap, come near the start of the season clubs in the PL will start coughing up our asking price they always do( Burnley the exception ) just look at city 8 million we paid for Livermore twice the amount we should have paid for him.

Our kid saw that lass from the club shop last night. Brady expected to leave as is Robertson.

I asked him for more details but he said his hands were quite full and that's all he could say.

Well duh, I'd expect any of our team to leave if their valuation was matched. Neither Brady nor Robertson will leave unless teams stump up cash, neither want to leave so until that changes I'd tell your kid to **** her and bin her off.

How did Atletico get out of the pre sale agreement with Aiderwald (Sp) to Saints? We always get caught out on these - Livermore/Ince.
