No panic as I have faith in our recruitment, but it will be strange with only 1 starting from our best back 5 last season..... Hope we find some jems again .
Well chaps and chapesses after a page and a bit we are running at an average of (for those providing relatively stable figures)...... 2.61 This thread declares that there is absolutely no panic whatsoever The meltdown remains a myth ....and relax
Oh come now - there is a long (in a short sort of way) summer ahead Surely we can get that closer to a 1 by August. ..
I'm running at about a 3 or 4, maybe. But that really is a reflection of my personality and Saints' position rather than anything that has transpired in particular. It's awfully hard to finish high in the league when there are clubs out there with massive budgets and seemingly better reputations. We are replacing a GK, which is always a little scary. And losing maybe our best player in Schneiderlin. If 1 is like "It's in the bag, we're going to win the league!" I don't think I am capable of 1. Last summer, I was at a 5 or 6 maybe. Still nowhere near meltdown. I think that's just how I am. Never too panick-y but never too confident either.
There's still plenty of time for a meltdown . In fact if you've been following the Toby thread I'm not sure some posters are as low as 2.61 just yet.
Well you could say a bit of unnecessary panicking means that people care what happens. It's a point of view I suppose.
1 - Not panicking. Before the end of the season I was expecting to lose Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and Clyne. I'm disappointed because it looked for a while like Clyne might stay and that Alderweireld might sign. We've done some early business and I'm sure there's plenty more to come. Bring it on.
By even replying to this thread I help to give it credence. By even mentioning the phrase, there's no need to panic, it puts the word panic in people's minds and sets the DefCon from a relaxed 5 to 4 [DefCon works from 5 to 1. 1 is Nuclear War. 5 is chilled]. When the writers of Dad's Army got Corporal Jones to shout don't panic, it was a masterstroke, because for a second, everyone panicked. And that could happen here. I've done completely the wrong thing by writing on this thread. But there you go. My personal panicometer [as someone has regretfully suggested it] is the same today as it was yesterday, the day before, etc... If 1 is the lowest, I'm there. I'm disappointed, it's true, but if I say I have utmost confidence in my club [which I do], I have to prove it by not giving a toss as to the ups and downs of players' goings in and out.
