Year left on his deal - Sell or keep ? Could be handy in squad terms for Europa as we don't really have another player similar other than Dusan. Or sell while we can and get him off the wage bill n try n bring someone in?

If there's a decent offer sell him. He's had years to make an impact and failed pretty badly, a few glimpses throughout the years but not nearly enough to want to hang on to him. There are other players who can do what he does with far more reliability, so yeah, get rid if an offer comes about.

He's on some ridiculous wage too, would be good to get off the books.

    Make statue of him!

Seriously, I'm thinking decent squad player for Europe. Depends I guess on how much someone is willing to pay......which I'm suspecting is not a lot!

Koeman has apparently said there is still a place for hik at saints. Blamed poor form on injuries and lack of pre seasons, said he is a very good player. I would love Gaston to come back into the fold and deliver what we all hoped he would

Koeman has said he will be used this season if he has a good pre season.

If he has a good pre-season and manages to somehow stay injury free....well.....

I was wondering this before, then I watched the behind the scenes vid and when I saw him, thought this again.

I know he's on a high wage but I would keep him as an extra option. We won't make much money if we sell him so rather than cutting our losses Luke Osvaldo, we should keep him.

Would be a good squad player to add bulk and we know if he applies himself, he is a good player. Maybe Koeman and the team can get the best out of him.

Also when he played for us, I think he struggled as he was too good for us, nobody was on his wave length whereas now we have players like Tadic, Mané etc, it could work out better for him.

This season is make or break for his saints career.

Agree it's the last year of his contract, even if he does really well he'd probably leave! <laugh>

But I agree with others, unless we get a decent enough offer to get a good replacement (unlikely) then I think we may as well keep him, even though he's failed to live upto expectations, we've got nothing else to lose with him really, if no one comes in for him. I actually think he might be helpful/more suited in the slower games in the Europa.

Koeman is great with the players....if anyone can get the best out of Gaston he can, but the question always is with Gaston, does he suit us. Skilful, but not hardworking enough. Love the guy, let's hope for everyone he does well.

If he can stay fit for longer than one game at a time I will be amazed.

I say cut our losses and sell him. Absolute sick note. We should either give some youngsters a go in his spot, or sign literally anyone else. He is a huge waste of money, and squad space.

I still can't see him adapting to the English game. He takes a year too pass a ball.

Whilst Gaston is very consitent at being inconsistent, there's always the Villa match in the back of your mind. He was simply majestic that day and still up there in my mind as one the best match performances I have seen by a Sants player.

But who can forget the poor forlorn Gaston in a Hull shirt and not wish him the best. Koeman should tell him that it really is in his interest to have a good season (i.e. get seen in some games) if he wants a decent move next season. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves during this window.

I spotted that predictive text error and swear I changed it but there it is for all to see!

Gaston behind Pelle will be even less effective than him behind Lambert. Playing him behind Long, Mane and Jrod, however, is a different story

Bearing in mind he is one of (if not the highest) the highest paid players we surely want him out
You don't pay top notch wages for someone who is injured 50% of the time or bench warming

I think if a half-decent bid comes in, he'll be gone. But he's not a bad option to keep if that's the way it pans out.

Reckon this sums it up pretty well, wouldn't be suprised to see him get a game in the first Europa game
