It appears that City are about to pay something in the region of 50 million for Sterling, however I just don't get how he's worth anything like that. Personally I'd value him at around 15 million, mainly for potential as he's far from the finished article. So is it just me that doesn't rate him particularly? I'm not saying he's crap but his goal rate isn't anything to brag about, his attitude isn't great and he's very inconsistent. I don't know if City (and others probably) are mad for being prepared to fork out 50 mil for him or if I'm mad for not seeing the value in it.
Good player but inconsistent, no way worth that much. Seems to believe his agents hype and thinks he's the new Messi which he isn't
Fits the City blueprint perfectly. I was genuinely worried when we were linked with him. Selfish, headless chicken who has the ability to beat a man and chip in with a few goals here and there. He's little more than a diva, it wouldn't surprise me if his boots for next season are diamond encrusted stilettos. Pathetic little boy.
Thing is, city need English players, that's why they are shelling out so much, sterling is a good player but his attitude is woeful
They could probably get Walcott for half the price and let's face it, he's twice the player. Harry Kane would probably cost the same. Stupid money for a **** player who will cry 'burnout' when the going gets tough and be found in bed at his mums house with his teddy when his team need him most.
I think he's a complete ****er & extremely overrated. He's refused to go on Liverpool's pre season tour as well. Like I say, he's a ****ing tosser with a very high opinion of himself.
Without having had to play 1/2 a game at a world cup this summer, City would maybe get 10 games out of him before he'll need a rest
Massively overrated, complete and utter twat as well by the sounds of it. He's had a handful of good games and has been anonymous for some I've watched. Yet he's worth £50m. Mental.
I hope he gets his move to City, hardly gets a game & ends up in the wilderness. ****ing cry baby arsehole.
Many young players have been built up by the Media, to be 'stars of the future',Junior Hoilet,Tom Ince,Moses,McEachran,Townsend, even Wilshere, the majority have had some limited success, some will no doubt have more.Sterling must improve dramatically, not just his football but also his attitude, otherwise he will become another young player who fails to fulfill his 'supposed' potential.
He is a very talented la and a great dribbler, but the money is absolutely outrageous. He will potentially become an incredibly marketable asset if he finds consistency, wins trophies and performs for England though, and City are more than aware of this, I agree with whoever said Walcott is an identikit player who without injury would be a far better player. £50million is putting him in the top 20 or so transfers of all time and that's utterly ridiculous, he never has and never will be of that level.
He linked up well with Suarez (who doesn't?) so maybe he'll form a decent bond with Aguero (when he's fit). When the pressure was on last season, with Sturridge injured and Suarez on his way to Barca, he bottled it, he flopped like a Darius Danesh comeback tour. After the 13/14 season I'd have said £30m was fair, but for some unfathomable reason his stock sky-rocketed last season again, despite him looking average for most of the season. Apply that logic to Falcao and he'd have been worth £100m after last season, but he's not English so it doesn't work like that for him.
"for some unfathomable reason his stock sky-rocketed last season again, despite him looking average for most of the season." One of the main reasons, were the comments, made by Brendan Rogers virtually after every match, saying how 'fantastic a player he was', 'what a brilliant game he had' etc etc.Perhaps Rogers should have been in Advertising, just maybe he could have helped getting buyers for Fletcher and Bridcutt etc !!
In today's climate i'd say 20-25m but it's a English club to an English club transfer and to a club with a bottomless wallet so there's that 50% mark up. He's not worth anywhere near that. It's just a further example of the FA's failure with English Football, that decent homegrown players are few and far between so still carry this ridiculous premium which seems to more than double their realistic value.
He was missing sitters every game towards the end of the season and he was sent away on his hols because of burn out? F*** off man. He is the type of player and person why I have very little interest in the national team anymore.
While I don,t think anyone let alone him is worth that sort of money, in the great scheme of things if his potential pays off that will have saved Citeh a shed load over say 5 years of taking punts on other players and him still be young enough to move him on for a sizeable amount chopping back what they paid for him
It'll not make any difference. He'll get the lip on at City as well. He hasn't reported for training this week because he had a bad head. He has a very poor attitude imo & seems a disruptive influence. He'll probably end up like Ballotelli where nobody will touch him with a barge pole. I think he's been badly advised but I think he's in cahoots with his agent on this. Compare his actions with that of De Gea who has been the perfect professional while everyone knows he wants to go to Madrid. Stirling's just a spoilt prick imo.
