Sunderland have made an improved bid for Dynamo Kiev forward Jeremain Lens, sources have told ESPN FC. As revealed by ESPN FC last month, Sunderland had made a move for Netherlands international Lens as they look to bolster their attacking options. Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat is determined to bring in attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season and he had lined up a move for his fellow Dutchman. Advocaat is a big fan of Lens, having worked with the attacker when the pair were together at AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven. Lens, 27, is an AZ Alkmaar youth graduate who moved to PSV Eindhoven in 2010 and scored 34 goals in 96 Eredivisie appearances. He joined Kiev in 2013. Lens is open to leaving Ukraine this summer, but Kiev have rejected Sunderland's first offer which sources say was in the region of £8 million. Sunderland have now returned with a new offer and they are confident that this bid will be accepted by Kiev. Should Sunderland land Lens, he will become their third signing of the summer following thearrivals of Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthewsfrom Liverpool and Celtic respectively.
The club doesn't usually announce how their business dealings are going, so where is this coming from?
Sounds like as good as any source back in the north east mate. I'm guessing it's the agent can't keep his trap shut! It's usually the bloody agents trying to be too clever for their own good. Football agents are quickly becoming the next generation's lawyers, as in, what do you call a shipload of football agents sinking in the middle of the ocean? A start!
Garlic butter? Chances are it's his agent trying to stir up interest. Or Kiev trying to push his price! If it turns out to be true then I'll be happy with the signing from what I've read and seen of him
