We actually had 9 on swarbs game.

This one is ten. I've ten in my excel sheet. I had too much manners to correct swarbs <whistle>

AFC ran his when Swarbs was scheduled to do it so maybe he wrote VIII as that was what it was going to be?

Dunno. All we can say is it was the best one!

Don't agree, I preferred the one I was SK in but each game is what you make it. I actually think they've become too busy and tactical, it was just a bit of fun at first (and obviously still is) but people have little techniques now such as the terminology and paper coding etc. It'll get to a point where we can start and final a game on the same day

that was my kill fest one i want to run that one again with tweaks too.

It does depend on how simple you make it and then how many people are in at the start.

What I will say is not critism of anyone but the only way to crakc al lthose is to be very very simple with the pms and say

you are town
you are serial killer

and of course say it in the set up thread

all those little things are hare to figure. the paper coding is quite individual. we've had 3? papers? Astros game was someone taking off rhc, mine had billy? do very elaborate paper and the last one had astro being cryptic. all had their own style

I do find having played i need things spelled out to me.

I would agree there are certainly preconceptions entering on day one and some will find it hard to get to day 2 eventually. I know i did for a while.

Yeah but as "townies" find techniques to expose mafia & other roles, mafia will also become more intelligent and learn from mistakes of previous players.

I mean in one of the first games, Milk managed to wipe mafia out by getting everyone to reveal their roles, I don't think that would work effectively this time around, for example.

Also I'm innocent

I'm in.

I like the known Don idea if we can get it to work, but as the last game was really nicely balanced I would personally prefer if we tried out a new concept like that in a future Mafia game rather than this one.

My take on the previous game:

Zombie team:
They just got unlucky, I think the setup is fine and they should do much better next game. If we give them more powers they may be way too strong.

Mafia team
:
Just a tweak for the Don will be fine.
Normally I would say make him invisible to investigations but if hitman gets killed early they're screwed, and if thief dies no more bullets, so I think that's the biggest risk. I think the Don could be made invisible to investigations while he has no additional powers (except for his recruitment power).

Once a mafia member dies the recruit or Don can take over their role but at 50% efficiency (for both thief and hitman roles, but if hitman misses he doesn't waste a bullet). If a second member dies the Don can take over that role too with the same limitations, however the recruit can only have one role so he is whoever he chose that first time someone died.
Example:
Mafia team at start: Don, Hitman, Thief.
Don recruits: Don, Hitman, Thief, Recruit (no powers).
Thief gets killed: Don, Hitman, Recruit (Thief powers at 50%). (makes no sense for Don to take Thief powers as he would lose investigative invisibility)
Recruit gets killed: Don (Thief powers at 50%), Hitman . (Don is now visible to investigations)
Hitman dies: Don (Hitman powers at 50%, Thief powers at 50%). (Don can choose to be a hitman OR a thief each night, can't do both).

In the previous example when it was just the Don & the Hitman, if the Don was killed next then the Hitman would be Hitman only as he can't become the thief. Only the recruit can take on another role (one time only when first mafia dies), or the Don can (multiple times, whenever a mafia role dies).

SK
:
Fine as he is.

Town roles:
Fine all round. Masons voting power is great.
I am not a big fan of known innocents but I think it's necessary with the amount of recruitment and infections in this game. If the cop was hidden and was recruited or infected it would really mess up the balance of the game, so in this case I agree with the cop being known.
Bump <whistle>

I'm in.

Same game as last one I would suggest but with Mafia Don able to keep roles for new Mafia if original role (hitman) been killed.

Think Mafia just very unlucky last time. I mean having Valley on their team. <whistle>

You've already made more posts than you did in the last game <whistle> [HASHTAG]#quietasamouse[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#donttrustthisguy[/HASHTAG]

That's the problem. Speak and you're Mafia. Don't speak and you must be Mafia.

My problem is I read everything to try and get my own reads. On the last game I was half way through the 13 pages that had appeared overnight before someone told me the game had finished. <doh>

I VOTE LUCAAS

Is there a bullying policy as Lucaas is bullying me?

Yes. Everyone must Bully someone else <ok>

On the known Don suggestion, it appears this is usually called the Godfather role...

In games with multiple killers, instead of appearing innocent on Cop reports, the Godfather may beBulletproof instead; they will appear guilty on Cop reports as normal, but cannot be killed at Night. (This has also been called Mafia Tough Guy.)

Some games offer Godfathers both investigation- and kill-immunity simultaneously.

In more traditional games, the Godfather may be the final arbiter in who the Mafia kills that Night, and who is performing the kill. Alternatively, the Godfather may be the only Mafioso who can kill.

An investigation-immune Godfather may lose his investigation immunity if he performs a kill himself.

A very similar role to the investigation-immune Godfather is the Ninja, who, instead of appearing innocent on Cop reports, shows as not visiting on Tracker or Watcher reports.

Alternatively to the above, some moderators take the concept of investigation immunity to make Godfather immune to some other investigation role instead of Cop.

What about the Mafia having some sort of Torturer role that can only be used once during the game. They are able to torture another player into telling them everything they know. For example, if the Torturer picked the investigator, the investigator would have to reveal all his investigation results. If the Torturer leant on a Freemason, the Freemason would have to tell him who else is a freemason, etc

A bonus skills earner... A variation on the Lyncher role; they are given a name of another player at the start of the game. The Lyncher's aim is to get that player lynched, if they achieve that they gain more actions for their team. This could be on both the good and bad teams.

What about a Witch Doctor type role? They have the ability to chose two player and force them to switch roles. Neither player knows who they have switched roles with, it is all done via the host. Obviously, if a Mafia is chosen to be switched with a townie, the ex-Mafia would know who the Mafia are and would still have access to the Mafia board so not sure how that could be implemented. New QT Mafia board setup after the switch? The Mafia would know that other person as become town too. Good mind **** for everyone else though <laugh>

On the previous thread, I said I had a football version of the game setup ready and waiting but I can't commit to hosting atm. Well, the "ready and waiting" part was slight exaggeration but I do have the basis for such a game...

You must log in or register to see images

...it needs few tweaks here and there and of course, depending on numbers the number of roles etc would possibly change too.

Any thoughts, possible improvements and/or feedback is welcome from most <laugh> (already had comments from MITO)

(I have removed the secrets I had in mind, don't want to be giving anything away)

PS...there wouldn't be a set journo role, I'd do it as host using any submissions I received.
