Also I can't find anything saying he wanted to join a CL team, he said he wanted CL football, something he's likely to get with us but not you.
Good lord. Considering the mare of a season you lot have had despite a level of investment that should of had you putting a strong challenge in for the title AT LEAST, I think to suggest that it is likely to get CL footy at Liverpool is controversial to say the least. Your only source of and hope of CL footy has left to join Barca and without him you are as likely to get it as Saints.
Are there any players in the prem that dont want to win it? Surely that would put them in breach of some kind of "not trying hard enough rule" ala jockeys etc.
Only if you're a deluded kopite..... Clyne stated in the Spring that he wanted to win league titles......and play in the CL. You've not managed the former for a quarter of a century and the latter once in 6 years....... Makes you think he might have been thinking about another destination when he came out with that statement......
No idea, but if he did there's no way he had Everton in mind when he said it. You see, that's the difference, I can freely admit to the fact, you lot can't.
Clyne said he'd like to play CL football and compete for titles... pretty standsrd response for any footballer. We then became interested and he obviously thought more likely to get that chance with us than with saints.. Most people (apart from saintsfan) would admit that that is true.. Even if we had a poor year this year I don't see what the big deal is
He didn't say 'compete' for titles he said WIN. He patently had another club on his radar when he came out with that. Is Liverpool a step up from Soton? Of course it is.
Still not seeing what the issue is. He he wants to win titles... We've come closer to winning the title in the last 2 years than United and arsenal
