Some of his first touch flick-ons are outstanding. I think I've gasped more times this season re, the little flick-ons to teammates than I have in donkey's years. Incredible touch.
The primary objective for a centre forward is to score goals and Charlie Austin scored twice as many as Pelle playing for a very poor team. Imagine what he could do playing for Saints.
Pelle's conversion rate wasn't good and seemed to be best friends with the woodwork
For me Charlie every day

Here's hoping he doesn't make a right Charlie of you, next season. :)

I really disagree. I bet for each gasp of yours I could find 5 groans where he either tried the flick on or couldn't hold it up. A flick in is not always a sign of "a good touch" for me. A good touch is first time control of the ball and keeping it. He gets that wrong a lot.

Sorry DL, that's a view form 20-30 years ago. Even back them Mark Hughes was a phenomenal CF without being prolific. The games has moved on huge amounts from that.

Our whole attacking game is built around Pelle. Ok he went off the boil second half of the season but he was exceptional first half. I think he suffered from lack of supply, Tadic was out of the team and his main asset is his ability in the air, how many times was he provided crosses in the air to attack? Spurs at at home? Look what happened. Austin can be explosive in the box but does very, very little outside it.

He suffered with a lack of confidence and some very bad luck but so did the entire team. His desire and will to win was for me along with Fonte the major reason we had such a great start and such a good season. Would be very difficult to replace. Do not understand the criticism he gets.

Support the players that want to be here.

I love Pelle, however I've openly said that I think he lacks in a few key areas of his game. I always support him, yet I fairly (IMO) point out where I think he needs big improvement.

Never mind, FLT. I saw enough to know he's got some great talent there that just needs tapping.

He's two weeks shy of 30. While there are certainly late bloomers, making good decisions with the ball is something that ought to be pretty well ingrained by this point.

Worth mentioning also that Pelle won more headers than any other player other than Benteke last season. Provided a plan a and b option. He seems to also have good understanding with both tadic and mane which is vital for the team and shape. I'd be very dissapointed if we sold him (and really don't expect us to).

Pelle did do well for us last season considering his first in the Premiership. I think his strengths lie in leading the line and supporting the attack as much as scoring goals. I am looking forward to JayR playing off his shoulder or coming from slightly deep and running onto his flick-ons. I think this could be a good combination and both will get their chances. With Long and Mane chipping in goals too - am happy with the with the forwards. I do agree however, that we need to consider Pelle is approaching 30 and, to be frank, was probably seen as a good temporary measure until we could find a quality finisher to assist in our search for CL football.
