Just found this from May, otherwise no idea:

Malaga are ready to part ways with Liverpool loanee Luis Alberto at the end of the season even though the agreement they reached with the Merseysiders last
summer included a two year deal, IBTimes UK understands.

The Spanish playmaker moved to Anfield in summer 2013 for around £6.8m ($10.7m) after impressing Brendan Rodgers during his time at the Barcelona B team, scoring 11 goals in the second division.

But after failing to give him a single starting appearance during his debut campaign in the Premier League, the former Swansea boss sent the 22-year-old midfielder on loan to Malaga in order to let him continue his development by securing more regular time.

Liverpool officials agreed then a two-season loan move with the option for both the Merseysiders and Malaga to break the agreement at the end of the first season.

And IBTimes UK understands than La Liga side are ready to conclude his loan this summer after Alberto has failed to make the impact expected at La Rosaleda Stadium.

Officials from both clubs have been in contact in recent weeks to discuss the future of the midfielder and Malaga has already informed Liverpool about their decision against keeping Alberto one further season in their ranks.

Alberto started the first fourth La Liga game of the campaign for Malaga but has since surprisingly disappeared from Javi Gracia's plans.

He only started six La Liga games during the whole campaign and is yet to play since making a late cameo during the 2-0 victory over Cordoba on 15 March.

Earlier in the season, after an impressive start in La Liga, Alberto revealed that he was likely to spend two years on loan at Malaga in order to secure first-team time before returning to Liverpool as a better player.

"It is a two season loan but Liverpool can take me back this summer. I think two years (rather than one) is better for me; but anyway, I am going to fight like if I had one month. I have to establish myself in the first division at Malaga," the Spaniard said in September.

But after having since seen his time limited he will be forced to return to Anfield sooner than expected.

Nevertheless and with a number of players competing for a role in Rodgers' midfield, the manager may consider sending him on loan elsewhere this summer.

that is correct. there was a massive potential transfer fee according to astro. They didn't play him so it was obvious he was not going to succeed. He is back for this season unitl we foist him on someone else

You what? Manquillo was excellent defensively! Was very rarely beaten one and one and his positioning was excellent. Flanno can't hold a candle to him - in fact none of the fullbacks at this club can.

The only time I can remember when he struggled was against Palace and Bolasie, and even then it was exaggerated - Bolasie hardly beat him one on one - Manq only struggled because he was double teamed and had no support. Bolasie only started to dominate when he attacked through the middle.

Manq is a very good defender - I thought Rodgers was some great advocate of youth and developing youth. Another committee signing thrown under the bus and not given a chance. <ok>

Don't even know where to start with the nonsense from Fowler. He's still God though so I'll let him off.

WTF does BR still see in Allen? He's padding at best, would far rather we gave youth a chance than waste a place with Crab Passer Allen
