Once Morgan goes to Manure, that will be 4 outfield players gone from last seasons squad, 5 if Toby doesn't sign.
We have only bought 2 in (so far). Les, Kruger and Ron have all spoken about a deeper squad this season due to Europa League. That is a lot of work to be done. So does this mean that we will be seeing another 4/5 outfield players signing before the season opener? Should be fun on the forums.
I think its six out field players based on the beginning of last season:
1 Cork
2 Clyne
3 Elia
4 Djuricic
5. Morgan?
6 Alderwiereld?

So we need to look at a further four transfers before we consider expanding the squad to deal with the extra games and last seasons paper thin squad

I'd actually like to see Arsenal challenge. I know TSS amongst others can't bear them, but of the 'big teams' they're far and away my favourite.

Agree with that - They're my favourite of the big clubs as well, it would be nice to see someone other Chelsea or Manchester clubs win it. I used to like Liverpool - not anymore so Arsenal for me now.

Not yet he's not.....apparently no offer received from anyone.....don't believe what the papers say.....keep the faith.

Someone close to him had said his wife has family in the north, they have told him he can have the no9 shirt and a payrise , and has been a done deal for a while ...

Need:

That was my point. We had a thin squad as it was, but at the moment it's paper thin, with more games to play.

But its Day 2 of the Transfer Window.... there is no need to panic just yet. Yes, the squad is small, we knew that last season and it probably cost us 1-2 league positions and I am pretty sure the club know all this better than the rest of us put together. Far too early for this sort of negativity.

This is quite interesting, in a way.
I agree with your sentiment, I kind of like Arsenal beacause they bought lots of our players and I take pride in our academy, so Arsenal success = Saints adcademy success (players like Sanchez and Cazorla are just carried by those boys).
But Liverpool (a team I used to enjoy watching) are a bunch of tapping-up, over-paying slimeballs who can't be bothered to train up any kids themselves.
I should hate Arsenal because they nicked our best players, but I don't.
Or, I shouldn't hate Liverpool becuase they nicked our best players, but I do.
Anyway who cares, I hope Saints rip 'em both new ones next season <laugh>

I think we can all agree with your final line <ok>

A good season behind J Rod and I think he may feel he needs a new challenge after next season.
Signing Toby on a permanent deal would be massive for us.
Getting some more quality in because of the extra fixtures is paramount and the powers that run the club would have seen that, because as already mentioned it cost us a couple of places in the league.
Yes the small is small but is it small on bodies or quality?
Personally I think it's quality( but that's just my opinion).
I would love to see Austin come here but we know that ain't gonna happen.
Would certainly love to see some real quality come into CM to replace Morgan....almost that WOW signing but you never know Saints have a funny knack of pulling that rabbit out of the bag.
Time is on our side,we've been here before, quality goes and quality will come in.
Just hope big Ron doesn't get poached.
