Glad I don't live anywhere near Heathrow - a report has backed the construction of a third runway. 800 homes would have to be demolished.

And the owners would make a killing . Not saying anyone should have to go , but if they had to go , :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:

Yelling by tennis players (male and female) should be banned. They don't all do it, so it isn't essential, but it is annoying to everyone else. If they were fined, they would soon stop. I think it's a stupid fashionable thing, but totally unnecessary.

Going way back, I remember Jimmy Connors used to do an almost apologetic grunt occasionally when serving during a long match, but that was about it. Now the blokes are grunting here and there, and the women are screaming their bloody heads off. No thanks.

According to the article below there are two benefits to grunting:

1) The grunting player hits the balls 4% harder without working significantly harder
2) The player at the other end doesn't react as quickly

Deliberate grunting IS banned but how would you prove it?

Anyone, anything, that converts power into something else is more efficient if they/it are/is quieter. Bog standard physics tells us that.

Psychological benefits to the hitter, I'll accept, but I'd ban them. It turns spectators off, and ultimately that'll stop it.

If we don't do something about Heathrow, then it will start to lose a lot of traffic to the likes of Schipol and Frankfurt.. It is, honestly, probably beyond it's limit, capacity wise.

That's exactly the problem - and I don't see it changing. There were plans in the 70s I think to build out east of London with a fast rail link. Hindsight's easy, but this would have been a better plan. Can't see a 3rd runway being approved, therefore Heathrow will gradually decline - a bit like the British economy ........ :emoticon-0101-sadsm

England's men's hockey team beat Pakistan in the World League Championships to set up a semi against Australia and, more importantly, qualify for the Rio Olympics. The ladies team qualified for the Olympics a few weeks ago. I can remember a time we'd have stood no chance against Pakistan in hockey. With our concentration on football, we sometimes forget all these sportsmen and women doing their best elsewhere (often in difficult financial circumstances).
