I once enquires about having a transfer sub forum stickied at the top with seperate threads inside for easier viewing. It would be a far better format. Is it possible? Don't see why not.
Wasn't Huddlestone carrying an injury last season, hence the operation he's just had. If so, case closed as far as I'm concerned.
It's The Sun who are claiming that we're in for Peter Whittingham, he'd be a brilliant addition, but I just can't see it happening. Cardiff are as keen on hanging on to him as we are on hanging onto Chester and Brady and we'd have to pay over the odds to get him.
I agree that on his day Huddlestone is better and more effective than Quinn, but how often was that last season? People say he did nothing but he did more than any of our other central midfielders. The point remains that Bruce couldn't replace him with cash to burn & Premier League football, so how he can be 'easily replaceable' now I just don't buy it.
23 senior players, 3 are forwards on good money and long contracts and are expected to leave. Livermore unlikely to feature anytime soon. Snodgrass and Diame on long contracts and long term injured. Three haver never made a start for the mighty tigers. Of the remaining fourteen players, eight are in the last year of contract. Our core squad for next season at the moment is, The Jak, Elmo, Dawson, Bruce, McGuire, Robertson. Start from the back?
Big guys always look slow and lumbering (I'm not saying he's fast), take Quinn for example (opens the door for more abuse) his little legs will be going ten to the dozen, but I bet he's no quicker. Maguire is the only Centre Back we have that can take the ball out of defence without hoofing it.
Slow and lumbering was a bit unfair, he needs to read the game better, if he has a year along side Michael Dawson at this level then he may yet become a top centre back. The defence does not appear to be a problem for next season, the make up of the rest of the squad is the mystery.
You reckon? I certainly hope so, but there's currently Dawson, Chester and probably Davies and junior ahead of him. It looks as though the club remain hopeful of keeping the first three, and Junior isnt going anywhere.
Is Davies fit? Not sure if he was on the injury list, if he's not and Maguire takes the place he may struggle getting a look in. But having 5 or more CB all capable isn't a bad thing.
