If Charlie has no contract release clause on an amount, we should hold out for the best price and force him to stay if no suitable offer made,
With a possible windfall from the sell of Sterling, we should invest in a striker to either play along Charlie or compliment our signings and current squad.
Lets not sell a big asset for peanuts better keeping him and force him to commit to the club.

Nope, I still think it will happen earlier.

My separate point, was, to successfully negotiate you must be willing to make a stance that you will stand by. Clubs will take advantage if they believe 15m to be a bluff.

Think to many on here are ready to cash out too early and miss out on dosh

Unfortunately, both selling too cheaply and lack of ambition seems deeply embedded in our Club culture.

Right now arguably the Club is prioritising a gradual rebuild over an immediate return to the PL. I doubt this is true, but many supporters on here seem happy with that. For me with our resources we should be targeting both. I hope we are.

Despite the resources the Club has had the last four years, we have not just spent on the wrong players, we should have invested more on better players, needed to secure PL status which would have covered the investment.

For as long as I remember when we have managed to build very good squads (in the mid 70's a great squad), we haven't maintained them. Lack of ambition has always been a big cause of that for me. Too many are happy being a small Club.

In a market whereby Aguero, Costa and Kane would all go for £30 million plus (the only higher scorers in the Prem last season than Austin) coupled with the fact that Benteke will fetch £25 million+, I'd say our asking price is completely fair.

Teams only become more desperate in January, and for a team not performing to their expectations or a team who've suffered an injury to a front man, suddenly £15 million for Austin looks even better business.

I cannot see what the problem is? Austin scored (18) goals in the Premiership? in a team that finished bottom.
And people think that an for English player that £15M is too much?

If he played for Chelsea/ManU/City/Arse/Liverpool he would be going for £25-30M! Because its QPR people think they can take the P.

rather we tell Austin not selling and run risk of leaving on a free when contract up. If we're gone go back up we will need him..promotion would be worth risk of loosing him.
 
You are asking TF to gamble - again!
Keep Austin and get promoted - the gamble pays off.
Keep Austin and don't get promoted and lose £15m.
I think they are done with that sort of gamble but I would be delighted to be proved wrong and see Charlie start in the Hoops in August.

A striker scoring 18 goals in the PL with a shyte team is not going back to the Championship. He'll be snapped up hopefully sooner than later so we can then plan ahead and not be left f*cked at the last minute like last season...
 
I'm thinking our clubs' mindset has changed completely and that we'll sit in the Championship for some time. We won't have the players to get us up for a while.

TF now has his own problems and I can't see him wanting to splash the cash, even if he did have it, on buying proven players. I'm not trying to sound negative, just realistic.

Sell Charlie and wish him the best.
 
How are we to keep him if he doesn't want to stay? Dress him in a gimp suit and keep him in a trunk in the cellar?

He is worth what another club is prepared to pay, his value to us is entirely dependant on his willingness to put a shift in, which was noticeably dropping towards the end of last season. If he is pulling on a QPR shirt in August I'm guessing there will be two thoughts in his head:
- why have these ****ers gone so slow on getting me back to the PL?
- I don't want to get injured and scupper any potential move

Sell fast, spend the dosh on replacements, unless he comes out and says he'd rather see out his contract and go on a free next year. If Les really wants maximum wages of £15-£20k, no way is Charlie signing a new contract with us.
 
To all those who think not selling is a financial gamble, can I remind you that we are hugely in debt? To the point that I don't think 15 million will help. We're completely dependent on wealthy shareholders whether or not we get the extra 15.

In that light, potentially losing out on 15 million is not as great a risk as it may first seem.

I don't like the above, and wish it weren't true, but it's how I see the facts.
 
If we're getting any less than £15m, then we should keep him and hope his goals take us back up. If we go up then we can hope he signs a new contract. If he refuses a new contract then so be it. Promotion to the PL is worth a lot more than £15m.

Does seem that way with the players we've brought in & also being rumoured with it's looking like our ambition is more around mid-Championship than Premiership promotion. May just have to hope that the other Championship teams are really sh!te this season.
