So we agree a fee for a player and fans come on here and kick off for what reason?

Cos it's not a shackle! !!!! It's a role. Same as the other 10 players. Everyone has to do thier bit.

It's like saying oh matic is shackled by chelsea pity they don't let him run about like Yaya and act the clown and get 20 goals.

Can could improve our team no end. You think he's too slow to chase round covering runs for some reason and somehow has to be a sprinter to do it. I don't agree.

If can were still at bayern he would be a holding player

I would see us play a pivot 3 in the middle if we get it right with can milner and henderson and would drop in henderson beside can if he shoes a modicum of brains.

Javi martinez was a great example of this before pep guardiola ruined bayern power game.

If we get Bacca as well as Firmino that will give us an interesting front three.

I cannot see us getting Digne and Clyne on top of this.

Looking good. Ive watched a bit of him this year. Someone on this site, and I cant rememember who suggested we got him last year when we sold Suarez and that alerted my interest. Be a real coup if this news is accurate. Two of the most artistic and creative Brazilian maestros in our attacking midfield, with the next German monster backing them up. Get Ings to stand still in the e box and these boys can just bounce balls off of him into the net

Difference is Matic is a NATURAL DM! It's his best role hence why he plays there.

And you don't have to be a sprinter but you do need to cover ground quickly - if you can't, you are exposed and you leave too much space to cover. Can is pretty slow on the turn.

Can playing as a holding mid is different to Can playing a DM. Two different roles - Can playing alongside a DM would be immense!

Digne and Clyne - nice <ok>

To support your point, pre injury Lucas was a great DM but has never had much pace or mobility. He reads the game well, positions himself intelligently and works his arse off and gets the job done.

But he wasn't a great DM - it's easy to look good in poor performing teams which is what he has done.

Pre injury yes. He could get about and was at peak stamina and fitness.

Now he is one paced and can match the top level. He's more than good enough for a lower level.

Can at 21 needs to build stamina more imo..but he is way better than what we had there at the end last year and rodgers lunacy at RB was just amazing

Just to be clear - I wouldn't mind Can in that role - I think he can be good there. But I rather we bring in a natural DM who requires no re-training, and then move Can into CM. <ok>

Up on BBC now as http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33250535, tempted to imagine we've got him, apart from the small matter of the Ayre-factor

'agreed a deal in principle' at 29mill

So much bitterness and tantruming in evidence on here I'd say it was unbelievable but it never is

So why have milner then.... you think bayern and leverkusen have not trained the lad at all?

Or that Rodgers has any hope of training him at all....
