Transfer Rumours Transfers- Rumours, deals, bollocks...

<confused>

How does that work? VVD was a step up from Wilson, who he replaced. It's not a continual regression - sometimes players you get in as replacements will be better and sometimes they'll be ****ter, and in this case, Boyata is definitely ****ter: didn't cut it at City (13 appearances in 6 years) and was utterly hopeless at Bolton on loan.

We should be spending 1.5m better.

it works because to replace denayer, with the qualities of denayer, we would need to spend 10 million. we are never going to spend 10 million

vvd was indeed a step up on wilson and he cost more than what we got for wilson. Denayer is a class act and it would be really tough to replace him with a player of similar qualities

was he hopeless at bolton? owen coyle was on bbc sportsound waxing lyrical about him. I have no idea as I have never seen him play

i am not saying it has to be a regression. We have the two best centre halves that I can remember us having, no matter who comes in, it will be a step down - unless lawell and his sinister catholic cabal can snare hummells and chiellini

You think Denayer is worth 10m? Not sure i'd go that far but he could be in the future. We also paid the same for Wilson that we paid for VVD, around 2.5m, I don't know what we got for Wilson though, pretty sure it was undisclosed but I can't remember.

There are players out there who I think would provide better value for money than Boyata - why not try and secure another loan signing? If it's good enough for us last season then it's still good enough for us in the coming season.

I just don't rate the guy - I've seen him play a few times and he's been a bombscare. He's 24, he's been around for 6 years and he's played a total of 32 matches. We're either spunking 1.5m on the black Darren Anderton, or he's so ****e he rarely gets a game anywhere.

I guess time will tell <ok>

mibbe the boyata just needs some confidence... full pre-season with a team that will play him regularly could work wonders.

I hope so - I was just fairly dismayed to hear he'd be replacing Denayer AND we were buying him.

Marc Rieper and Alan Stubbs ****s all over VVD and Denayer as a CB pairing in my memory.

Same for Joos and Johan.

They had a fantastic record in the second half of the season (Europe and Scottish Cup apart). So they are up there with any partnership I remember.

We still need at least 2 more CB's, Ambrose can't be trusted through the middle and VVD is most likely going to a premiership club.

The whole first half was like watching a Laurel & Hardy film.

They are both talented defenders but Stubbs and Rieper were both the finished article when we signed them and were both class. Rieper is the best CB I've seen in a Celtic jersey.

Dan , you are right VVD will fancy going to the better paid EPL. That is a certainty. The problem
is Celtic fans have been forecasting Virgil leaving since he was with us 6 months. No doubt someone
will be right sometime. You may have to wait until the next window for your prophesy to be correct.
Deila says he isnt leaving before the qualifiers are over , at the earliest and I have no reason not to believe Deila.

The truth is the media don't have a ****ing clue what we are doing, and they can't stand it. How many players have we been linked to now? It's written by ****s desperate to sell papers (or Rangers season tickets), with absolutely no regard for the truth.

They only know what we choose to tell them, the rest is guess work.
