Rival watch

  1. Mentioning this here, rather than re-ignite the OS thread, but there is an article on the BBC Sport website this morning penned by footie correspondent Dan Roan - and for the first time on the Beeb raises the serious financial implications and suspicions surrounding the West Ham bid process. Pity they didn't have a more balanced approach over the last 3 years!

In the articles following comments, there is some talk about the Spammers being able to fill the new stadium and mentions that they currently have 99.6% capacity. From my recollection of the last 2 seasons at least they have to gift seats for many of their home games - or at least for nominal amounts - advertising in the Standard etc. Sounds like another example of creative accounting.......

My buddy’s kid was terrified of the Pirate Parrot, who’s less intimidating than Chirpy. If a child tried to run away from that mascot he’d have to avoid getting trampled by his dad.

A very good signing today by Bournemouth in getting Sylvan Distin. One of my favourite all time PL players.

Do you not think he's a good signing for a newly promoted club ? I know he's 37 but his performances still merited more playing time than Martinez gave him last season.

Good signing, but it depends how fit and up to the pace of the game he is. Everton obviously decided he'd reached the end of the line. Bournemouth are an attacking side and might find that teams look to counterattack them quickly when they have committed men forward. Defenders need to be quick to close down any danger and will often be tested for pace. He had pace, but has he still got it 37? His experience will be invaluable, but I hope he doesn't perform like Rio did at QPR - and look a pale shadow of his former self.

I'm trying to work out what the biggest piss take is: the Wall Street Journal being able to compile this list...

...or the fact the WSJ neglects to mention most of those rumours are made up the various rags of by Murdoch's Evil Empire - who also own the Wall Street Journal!

    "Utd team for next season."

Even with that starting line up, I'd still back Spurs to beat them at WHL.

With 'pool now buying yet another striker, it would be wise for Man City not to up their bid for Sterling- Liverpool will be desperate to sell him and City can afford to wait (At least that is how Daniel would think)

Firmino is more midfielder than striker, but your point is still valid. However with just three home grown players city really aren't in a strong position - they need to buy a lot of British talent and we don't need to sell sterling. Also the longer they wait, the more likely a rival bidder emerges - and tbh if 35/40 mil were to come in from a foreign club I think we'd take it.

At a guess it's Felipe Anderson, Lazio's one-cap Brazilian attacking midfielder.

Leicester sack Pearson. Is this the first sacking of the new season or the last one of the old season ? They sacked his son last week, although that was a far more logical dismissal.
