He's inconsistent in terms of the way he runs, one day he looks a world beater and the next he looks very ordinary. The recurring theme with Telescope is that when he comes up against a half decent animal, he loses. When you look at the races he has won, it's hard to be overly impressed by what he has beat, there's nothing in his form that would have me rushing to bet him at 7/4 or 2/1. He's a classic bookies horse, and it's no surprise that the bookies want to take him on today.
 
4:40 Newmarket - Just Us Two 9/4. He won well lto on his comeback run this season, the 2nd from that race has since came out and won. He goes up a couple of grades today but hopefully he can still be good enough, can take advantage of receiving weight to the majority of the field.

Will double this one up with Postponed at Ascot.
 
EAGLE TOP can defeat Telescope. His Sandown run in the Brigadier was perfect preparation and he will step forward markedly. Only concern is a lack of pace that might catch him out (stays so very well), but Telescope doesn't want a crawl either. Postponed is likely to go from the front and to be fair he doesn't usually crawl.

You are brave to be backing Stoutes team after his week, but that's what the game is about- opinions!

First Flight 9/1 has a 5lb swing with the favourite Mahsoob for a half length defeat at Doncaster. Both horses have hold up styles and to be fair they should get a pace to aim at. James Doyle hasn't had much joy this week but Bin Suroors horses are running well at the moment.

I am not at all comfortable with Charlie Applebys form but he did win this week here with Space Age. He saddles a NEw Approach colt out of Dubai Milennium mare called Groundbreaking 40/1, and I'm taking an e/w piece as this horse, whilst clearly having problems, has won both times when fresh, smashing some 90+ rated animals by 7L on reappearance at Newmarket last season. He has had 150 or so days off the track, so he could surprise at nice odds.

I think it looks a well below average Diamond Jubilee. The Aussie raider who is fav doesn't look the strongest they have produced but I massively respect their '2nd string' WANDJINA, who stays 7f (will relish 6f stiff Ascot test) for Gai Waterhouse and Damien Oliver- one of the Aussie juggernaut combinations. Wesley Ward saddles Undrafted, 4th in a July Cup on good to soft and he might be a real good proposition back on firmer turf (running on 3rd in Breeders Cup sprint turf).
 
Don't normally get involved with horses at such ****ty prices but in the 2:10 at Newmarket Silvestre De Sousa rides Street Duel 2/1 for Mark Johnston before going to Ascot for the last two then onto Lingfield for 3 tonight.
 
17:00 Ascot - Watchable

(Have had hardly a bet at Royal Ascot this year, thank goodness, but will have a screwball bet on a screwball sprint, the Wokingham, on the last day, so took the 12/1 generally available at the moment. Hasn't raced too much but progressive in 2014, and encouraging runs this season (5f LTO too short a distance). Strong gallop will help. Jockey booking fascinating.............<whistle>).
 
2:30 - Chesham Stakes

Cymric @18/1 must be well regarded making debut in race like this and - cost $300,000 and the Gosden/Buick partnership won this last year in very impressive style with Richard Pankhurst (also double figure odds) that hasn't seen a racecourse since!!
 
I guess most punters will be backing Australian trained Brazen Beau in the Diamond Jubilee, here's a reminder of how close the last Australian winner came to NOT winning the race in 2012!

Ryan Moore is 10/1 to ride a total of 13 or more winners at this week's Royal Ascot (and to break Fred Archer's all time record of 12 winners), anyone willing to place a bet on that?

In the 4:50 at Ayr, I do hope that wonderful old veteran ‘Scotty’ (Borderlescott) runs a big race for Rebecca Bastiman.

Trying to sneak a winner in under the radar whilst everybody is watching Ascot, Graham Lee teams up with Mark Johnston in the Ayr 5:25 with consistent three year old Subversive, although the odds will be short enough against his elders. He was a good second on Goodwood’s turf last time but enthusiasm is tempered because his three career wins are on polytrack.

Another significant combination in the Ayr 4:10 is Graham Gibbons and Robert Cowell with IFFRANESIA, runner-up in a Chantilly Listed race a couple of weeks ago, travelling to Scotland for a similar event. The favourite is a six furlong horse dropping to five and most of the others are handicappers.

At Newmarket in the 4:40, Robert Cowell is also the man to follow with recent Windsor winner JUST US TWO. Hoping to get more than 2/1 as the main danger looks like Snap Shots.
 
Anyone else find this royal pomp and ceremony a bore.Then c4 emphasis more about the fashion on show than the runners in the parade ring!Not a big fan of Clare Baulding either, very sure of herself.Ok rant over
 
I don't bloody believe it. I picked Suits You, changed to Ballydoyle and once again the Moore horse I pick gets beat in a photo (and by my original pick) :steam: I'm beginning to hate Ascot
 
Yeah good result for the bookies badger, id say alot of folk doubled Bdoyle up with Wicklow Brave.I fancy Eagle Top to oblige in the 3.40.Telescope is a worthy fav but I'd be happy to take on any Stoute runner based on the yards patchy form so far this season.

The one and only bit of wisdom my step dad gave me regarding betting "never change your mind " the bugger has been right since the day he told me many moons ago. Lol
