Looks like Mackie is coming back. Will support him all the way like the rest of the Rangers.

He doesn't get used as an out and out striker so don't think his goals per game is that important, I like him as a player but I think the Championship is his level, he'll do a job as a squad player next year if he comes but if we go up we will end up selling him off.

Fans like players like Jamie mackie. They chase balls down, throw themselves into tackles. When the team is losing they say 'if we had a few more like him we'll be fine'.

The problem I have with him is that he didn't cut it as a striker and then got pushed out wide because he can get up and down the pitch. I just do not think he is an effective player.

Exactly what I said earlier in this thread, a lot of effort for very little end product.

The more i think about it the more i believe Mackie can do a job with all the extra games we will have.
I bet those plastic Reading fans are spitting out their bitter beer hearing this news? :emoticon-0136-giggl

With the right players around him he can be effective as he definitely unsettles defenders with his persistence. Worth having in the squad for his attitude, one of the 'right sort'. Remember, this is the Championship...

Football snobs are like wine snobs. They think their taste is refined and they are an authority on what a good player is.

Mackie achieved a good return of goals in the championship for us, and a good amount of assists. And, considering he was out injured for a long stretch in the EPL for us, he had a good return of goals and assists there too.

Football snobs tend to go with hype and how pretty the player looks. I'd rather go with results and honour. Mackie has both on his side.

Gets my vote.

But I don't think we should make him captain.

Mackie - Lambrusco - cheap bubbly but weak with no finess, now where are those blind ally's

FFS Mackie never got a chance as an out an out striker for us. As for no end product, give me a break, winner against Liverpool, diving header at Citeh and those two late goals at Derby a few years back to name a few. We are in the Championship, think some are forgetting this fact.

Sorry to be pedantic but the first against Derby was Patrick Agyeman.
I'm pleased Mackie is back. There seems some sort of poetic justice in taking us back to our roots.
Feels like we've flirted with flash (and expensive) and now we are back to where we started hopefully wiser and with a more sober approach.

At the end of the day Mackie will run around all day long and in the Championship that's a good thing.
However
He is not the greatest of footballers and if people think he is, they should start watching cricket.
For me, i think it is a step backwards but we are in the Championship and i guess a £15M signing is not going to happen. No doubt he will play his heart out for us and that is something we have missed. Even when they interviewed him at his home prior to the FA cup semi (when he was on loan at Reading) his walls were covered with pictures of him in a QPR kit.

Was always surprised when he went, compared to some of the players who followed him and gave nothing I'll be glad if he comes back.
