Having seen the weather forecast for Royal Ascot next week, if you fancy anything that needs to get its toe in, you had better hope that they have the taps on before Tuesday because the weather is set fair. As it is supposed to be summer, they ought to just let the ground get quick because flat racing is about the fastest horses beating the slower ones. Having looked at the entries, I think I will hardly be having a bet all week as I do not touch most of the handicaps and most of the ones that I fancy will be short-priced favourites in the pattern races. With Godolphin and the Qataris buying up virtually anything that is expected to have a chance, the social set will not need racecards to know which colours to look for when they have a bet.

I cant stand all these American horse coming over, from a punting point of view you sit down with a fantastic card and then come up against this horse you know nothing about, whose form is incomparable to anything else in the race and you have to somehow form an opinion. I am sure it's a big success for Ascot with it's international flavour, but for me I'd rather they stayed across the pond. I will do what I have done in past years, which is ignore them and just take it on the chin if one wins as I cannot back them blind or on US reputation.
That's what I do else it's just guesswork you have to stick to the form you know, same with the Hong Kong horse. Though in saying that I will probably back the Aussie Brazen Beau in the Diamond Jubilee on the basis that he won't have to be that good against that opposition.
Just had a quick look at it's form over sprint distances and it looks a bit ordinary, not one I will be giving any consideration to as it looks better over further.
Far be it for me to dissuade you Robbie. After a life time of flushing good money down the toilet, I've given up the punt, even on the race that stops the nation. Wandjina may run like a camel race day, there is every chance he'll fail. It's a hell of a journet. Waterhouse couldn't find the key to the colt for some time. She tried to get him to the 2000m Cox Plate, but he couldn't get the trip. His all the way 1600m Guineas was about as far he'd like, especially as his pop was an out and out speedster. His last run in the All Aged Stakes, he took on some of the cream of our sprinters, and ran the race of his life. The 1400m at Randwick would be close to a strongly run 1200m at Ascot. Having said all that though, if this race was run down the straight 6 at Flemington. Brazen Beau would start a very hot favourite.

The Norfolk Stakes on Thursday now looks a dead cert to be battled out between King of Rooks and Log Out Island following Buratino's demolition job in the Coventry Stakes. At Evs and 5/2 respectively, this looks a banker ****er bet with 20 points and 10 points respectively.
