so i guess that most think its a step backwards. Agree with that and come to think of it, when i watched a bit of a Reading game on TV he didn't contribute that much.

Sorry Watford, not looking to start an argument, but you have never met me and have no idea what motivates me at work or elsewhere. Believe me, I don't whine about my pay to tradesmen. If I'm not enjoying myself or am feeling under rewarded I will try to change things, and if that doesn't work, I'll find something else to do.

The best that can be said of moaning about your pay to someone who earns a fraction of what you do is that it's insensitive.

I'm pissed off by the idea of Jamie Mackie coming back when we seem to be making some progress at last. I was there at the Liverpool game, and as I said above, on the odd occasion Mackie could turn it on - likewise the goal at City.

Otherwise I have a shoulder of lamb slow cooking and a bottle of Malbec breathing, life is good.

I find it unlikely that he just started moaning about being on £15/20/25k to a plumber. Far likelier the subject of the mercenary players came up while chatting with a plumber who was a football supporter and it was blown hugely out of proportion.

All my argument is is that he's better than the players we currently have. Up front or wide right assuming Austin/Phillips go he's a stronger footballer than what we have now IMO. He's popular with the vast majority of fans too which should be another positive in a season which will be bloody tough and the crowd are probably expecting too much.
 
Get him back! Quality player loved him one of my favourites reminds me a lot of Austin in regards to work rate. Would be a great sub to bring on the second half.
 
As much as I like Jamie, re-signing him would be a backward step in my opinion. You get maximum effort with very little end product, time to move on for me.
 
How well have we done with all these forward steps we've taken since Mackie? Doesn't seem like much of a backwards step to me

I couldn't agree more, we've made some seriously crap signings for far too much money but that's not the issue here. The question is would signing Mackie be the way forward? Maybe it is.

I'm not saying build the team around him but as a versatile, experienced option who at his worst puts 100% in, I think so.
 
So it's essentially a balance between being sentimental for what he once bought to the club, and wanting that back...or the past being irrelevant, time to move on, and he no longer meets the standards we are aiming for.

Whether he is 'good' enough or not is important, but not everything. We also need players who have the right work ethic, and will spread that amongst the squad. I think he has a lot to contribute in the Championship, and will raise the effort levels throughout the squad.

This, lets not get all sentimental about this. He couldn't do it at Forest so they got rid and couldn't do it at Reading. Great athlete, but so is Jessica Ennis, i want footballers and sadly he runs around a lot but produces little now.
Move on.

He was my favourite player during that COLIN/Hughes era but after Brickiegate I thought he was so out of order.

Hopefully this is nonsense. He shouldn't be allowed back.
