This is like the film "Office Space" where the main character stops turning up for work, comes in late, generally doesn't give a s*it and keeps getting promoted...only in football could someone be consistently deemed unfit, lazy and an all round pain in the bum and walk away from a relegated club and into the Champions League.

Still can't believe Benfica would be that daft??

Adios Adel - thanks for the moments of magic...shame about the rest of it eh?

Moroccan midfielder departs after six years at Loftus Road …

    • Adel Taarabts leaves QPR after six-years at Loftus Road
    • Attacker has his contract terminated by mutual consent
    • Moroccan midfielder made 164 appearances, scoring 34 goals
QPR and Adel Taarabt have reached agreement for the player’s contact to be terminated by mutual consent.

Taarabt, 26, joined QPR in March 2009 from Tottenham, initially on loan, before completing a permanent transfer in the summer of 2010.

In 2010/11, the Moroccan captained QPR to the Championship title, and was named the division’s Player of the Year after a stunning season, in which he scored 19 goals and provided a further 19 assists as the R’s returned to the top-flight after a 15-year absence.

In 2011/12, Taarabt helped Rangers retain their Premier League status, scoring crucial goals in victories over Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The creative midfielder made a total of 164 appearances during his time at Loftus Road, scoring 34 goals.

The club wishes Adel well for the future.

Gutted. Best player I've seen at Rangers. Big oppurtunity lost. Who's to blame? Adel, the club or various managers? Who knows. But that's all history. It's a matter of what could have been had he been treated better in our first season back. When Warnock got the cash he pissed on what Adel had achieved for us as we would never have been a Premier League club without him in the first place.

That rush of excitement seeing his name in the lineup won't be felt in a very long time for me I'm afraid.

Thank you for everything Adel, you have been a pleasure to watch.

Doesn't look fit, but how can when not being played for two years.

Signed by Benfica so must be **** right?

Hope he rocks and know he will be as soon as he gets in the team.

Thanks for all the magnificent goals in the 2010-11 Championship winning side! That was brilliance and a true pleasure. I will not forget them!

However, it is a big pity that since then he has not performer for us, and that is a massive disappointment. But the time has come for him, and us, to move on.

I sincerely wish him every success, as he is talented, and I will follow his progress. I am sure that this will not be the last Adel thread on this forum!

He could do well there at the slow pace and warm heat of the Portuguese league

I suspect he will sparkle, but be afflicted by injuries, you cannot let yourself go to seed for 6 years without long term effects...I should know

(In my case a bit longer admittedly!!!)

Two things shock me about this:
1, Ellers reads the Daily Mail
    2. The new regime at QPR can find no way to turn a profit from a player for whom a top European club are willing to give a 5 year contract.

I think he has engineered this.. No club seems willing to pay any fee for him and he has made it clear he doesnt want to play for us. If he is on £20k pw then its a million saved. Only one person to blame for this and that is Adel.
He epitomizes everything that is wrong in football. Before anyone starts i am not an Adel hater just calling it how I see it
