The most talented with the most potential that I have seen, but let's not lay the blame at all the managers (including international) who could not handle him. Never a team player and never a hard worker. Warnock got the best out of him because he let him get away with whatever he wanted. When that finished he didn't want to know. Remember, his best run of games was in the Championship. The biggest mistake was not letting him go to PSG in 2011 - but we had nobody to replace him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
To be fair Macca wasn't really a flair player which I think is what were talking here! AT easily the best for sheer footballing entertainment. The only one for me that came close was Wegerle when he turned it on which was far less frequent.
In the footballing sense but to be fair to him I met him twice, was bloody nice only had good things to say about the club and most importantly had plenty of time for my boy for photos and a chat.
Watching him single handedly destroy the Championship was a pleasure to watch. That league has never seen 1 player dominate the division like he has. The move suits all parties, best of luck Adel
Fair enough, but give me a surly bugger that consistently wins us games any day over a nice guy who doesn't give a toss about training or playing...
He was also crucial in keeping us up in the prem and gave great performances pre that championship winning season. Tango and cash were pretty ruthless owners and club was drifting in a dangerous direction. Adel gave us promotion and chance to improve ourselves to a level not reached in 15 years
"Brilliant talent, awful attitude" - how very true! Hindsight is a wonderful gift! It is a great pity for all (Adel and the Club) that we did not sell him after our 2010-2011. He was then valued at GBP 15M and I think that it would have been beneficial for both parties. However, had we done that, I am sure that there would have been a meltdown on the forums. Adel is an unfilled potential and it is very sad. However, I will always fondly remember his contribution in that promotion winning side. But it is time for both parties to move on and progress. I will follow his progress with interest. (I have copied above what I wrote on another board)
Fancy-dans losing every week hardly makes me enjoy watching the team. Unless that's what you like. And I think you need to look up the difference between a general statement of opinion and a specific comment about individuals. My point - as you well know - was that I couldn't care less whether Taarabt shakes fan's hands and poses for selfies off the pitch, if he's fat and feckless on the pitch. Which he has been for far too much of his time with us.
Yep, lots of negatives but I'm happy to have seen his moments of magic and will remember The Mercurial Moroccan with a degree of fondness.
I am not going to get romantic over ONE season of SIX. A complete ****ing waste of space. Good riddance you disrespectful twat.
Yes, he must have been quite excited at the prospect of £4 million pay-day, from a £1 million sale, when a £10 million transfer seemed in the cards! On this one, perhaps Harry has been proved correct with his "bit of a fruit cake" appraisal. Warnock though seemed to have the ability to manage his skills & temperament? Given his ability he needed to demonstrate and prove his worth on the playing field, and at this he progressively failed miserably.
For me, he has severely tarnished the glittering reputation he earned when we were promoted with Warnock. Last season, despite protesting that he had the club and team's best interests at heart, in truth all he was interested in doing was taking the money. Unfit or "injured" all season. Cynical.
Your comment highlights the counter-productive English obsession with safe rubbish football. At what point did we have a team of fancy dans and lose every week? Obviously never. You are creating this made up world then slagging it off?! Weird Last year we had until Phillips turned up too late a team of 9 other players who fit the “surly” description well did you enjoy last season?
Seems he's a victim of his own success. You forget he did well pre- the promotion season and then was crucial in keeping us up the season after. While he didn't consistently hit the heights we hoped he still outperformed the majority of ****e around him for most that time. But he is judged by different rules to make the Mike Basset mob feel better. Considering this is the guy who got us promotion, freed us from tango and cash who short memories aside were dreadful for the club, and gave us a chance to improve and progress. Why haven't any of the other waster and pricks we've had like SWP etc not got the same level of hatred. And how many of them then went on to sign for one of the top clubs in Europe? Is the penny still not dropping. Scum bags like Barton who slag the club off and get sent off in crucial games know they can pacify the idiotic masses by saying the right thing at a later date and pull the wool over the dense skull of the average Rangers supporting idiot. This is made all the easier by being a hard working no talent working class English thug. And not a foreign guy of African descent with English as a second language who does step overs and doesn't always track back
I always thought is was a combination of Curle and Warnock, I seem to remember he did a lot of celebrations with Curle and I always had the impression that it was Curle and not Warnock that had the special bond with AT
