I really hope so, as I don't think the two we have are quite Champions level. On a side note, Khedira has signed for Juve http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33067843
I was listening to Tim Vickery on 5Live and he didn't sound that complimentary about Martinez.Vickery's view, was 'Do you want to play with eleven men or ten with another one who can score, goals
Erm, the point of a striker is to score goals and if he can score loads, then that's good enough (not saying that Martinez is the man though). We've not had a top striker since Henry and that is a very long time to not have one. I won't count RVPs microscopic season. But every Premiership winning team has had a top striker who scores consistently and scores well. It is no surprise that our last title winning team had a goal scorer who scored over 20 in the league. As good as Giroud has played well this season, his return of 14 goals in the league isn't good enough (last season was 16). Yes we do share goals, but our CF should be averaging over 20, especially when you have outstanding playmakers like Ozil, Cazorla, Sanchez and Ramsey playing for you. We create a hell of a lot but we just don't have the high enough quality up front. A top striker would have a field day playing for Arsenal.
Twitter rumour that some ex Napoli player is 90% certain Higuain will join Arsenal,he wont join the chavs because he ****ing hates maureen I've just found out the ex player's name is Jose Alberti & he was talking to TV station CN24
I'd say it's the other way round - I can't think of a single top striker who doesn't work for the team and provide more than goals, Henry, RVP, Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez ect all work hard for the team, creating space, creating chances, drawing defenders away ect. Not many would just stand there, being a liability for a lot of the match, while we didn't have the ball or were building an attack. The only one that immediately springs to mind (at the top, top level), is Van Nistlerooy. I think, particularly these days, a striker has to score goals, but they also need to drag defenders out of position and create chances/space for others, as usually a striker will play as part of a front 3, where by the wing forwards (and the no10) will need to score a lot of goals as well.
You guys are making out that Martinez just stands there like a lamppost. I'm sure he does a little more than just kick the ball at the back of the net. He obviously works hard to get the amount of goals he does. We are talking about the modern era where players have to get involved quite a bit.
Every fecking season the same old names crop up with us. Kondogbia, Higuain, Brahini, Martinez...we just need M'Vila for the set! Bah I say, BAH. Lazy journalism is all it is. Keeper, striker and DM are the only positions I'm especially bothered with unless you could guarantee a like for like upgrade that cost next to nothing.
Apparently M'Vila has been spotted in the Arsenal shop buying a pair of Arsenal pyjamas, so it's nailed on that he's going to sign
