If we have permission for the expansion who cares about any objections.

If the planning permission has been given, the council has looked at that , and turned down the objections

I think the hold up has already been eluded to by bob the slob and has nothing to do with objections which have been over ruled by the council.

The council have been questioned as to their propriety in allocating European funds to the build in the first place.

This is of course an issue for the council and has nothing to do with Swansea City AFC but it can hold up our plans while the council is under scrutiny.

I think the problem goes further back to when no one objected to the then vacant site being earmarked for a brand new, desperately needed 'Superstore'. The name of the company leading the charge for this at the time were, well I pretty sure their name rhymes with pesco. A pescos store in every post-code was their business plan.

The council chose to build the Liberty which the litigious pescos would not have liked at all, so, maybe, its they (pescos) who are the pins in the bathtub and who are making things uncomfortable for our council. I've heard they have done fa worse when they haven't got their way.

The thing I don't get with the 'questions' issue is, all funding was originally approved and none would have been released without approval from the relevant European agency involved.

In my experience I understand that our council would have had to apply for these funds long before the build began, at the planning stage. At this stage they would have received an initial development payment to float the project. Further funding would have to be applied for and paid to the council incrementally over a period of years, to the point of completion.

Each increment would have to be 'applied for' and each increment would have to be approved by the agencies involved before it was transferred. So why was it necessary for the European commission to ask for certain clarifications, asking for them now shows up all the agencies involved, not just our council.

It'll all come out in the wash I imagine but until the issues are rinsed clean the Liberty will remain 'as is' in both capacity and ownership. Unless of course the issues have gone and our council's as clean as a referees whistle.

From my understanding there was no European funding initially, it was funded through the council, sports council of Wales, lottery and Welsh Assembly who might have been the sports council.

The point of the investigation is not just the Liberty but all funding that was given across Europe by the equivalent in each country.

Umm Dai yes I do know how it works as I have had planning for a number of properties. Now if you read my post properly you would have seen 'if the planning permission has been given' that sort of says it doesn't it?

Perhaps if you had a clue on how to read a post you wouldn't be making an idiot of yourself, would you?

Some on here are assuming its like when someone applies for an extension on their house. It couldn't be so different and much more complicated....

Could you show me where people are assuming that ? Planning on this is complicated yes as its where a lot of the public will be, and the designs would be open to scrutiny by the council. You assume to much Dai, people are not the morons your attitude suggests

Why has nothing been started ? If it was all above board it would have started last season but they were stopped and why do you think it was stopped ? Come on your not that naive that you cant work it out. The minute the police got their two pennyworth in was the time it went pear shape....

Probably because planning permission has not been granted yet, its a complicated issue is planning, if you had been through it yourself even on a house then you would understand it takes time. And you are assuming you know everything Dai, can I just say you don't!

Well I've spent the last hour looking at all the planning applications the club have. I must say that Swansea City Council, don't up date it often as I can't see any approval for the Fairwood extension. Currently no decision has been made on the extension to the stadium, but I have heard on the grapevine that the main contractor has been appointed, as I know a construction company who bid for the works didn't get it, so if they didn't get it I would assume that somebody has, now I can't be 100% sure if this is true.

Commercial planning is a bloody nightmare, we have a project in with planning with Windsor and Maidenhead since September last year, and were still waiting on a decision, planning officers don't have mess people around!!

I thought planning permission was granted last year (Can't confirm though). They were doing it well in advance so there would be no hold ups when they were ready to proceed.

No I think planning was submitted with Huw saying it will take up to a year before permission is granted, if you look on the Swansea City planning portal you will see where it is up to now. Just enter the postcode for the stadium

They won't update it with anything unless there is something to add, as stated above commercial planning takes a lot of time, plus the application has changed over time.
