Working hard is part of it, but unless you grasp the concepts and basic fundamental principals you won't enjoy it or find it easy.
I find it ridiculous how easy GCSE Maths is. It's so incredibly basic, yet it's all so many people ever do.
My friend's one of those guys who naturally isn't that clever, but works ridiculously hard to make up for it. I think he'll be fine, he's very passionate about Engineering and Physics in general.
Maths is just a language. How many people find French or Spanish difficult. I have been trying to learn German for 15 years
Both of the guys I know who are doing Medicine did Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology at A2, with Physics at AS.
True. I feel some people just don't seem to try with Maths though. They just seem to have the mindset that they can't do it and just give up before they've even begun.
Not as good as the level of qualifications he has. We engineers are now undervalued due to a technician being given engineer job titles.
Maybe the skill set they have is different. Maybe the scientific and engineering world don't sell how important and 'fun/interesting/exciting' maths is
Neither do I a lot of the time. It can be frustrating as hell, but nothing beats the feeling of solving a ridiculously difficult problem for me
"Engineers" are really touchy about that, aren't they? I think its just a way for people like BT to charge more for call outs by sending their "engineer" over rather than saying "fitter" or "technician".
