Too late Fran, he's in the England squad. The article failed to point out that Roy will put an arm around him to talk about the need to play for a 'big club' while humming You'll Never Walk Alone in his year.

I knew Roy had a slight speech defect, but didn't realise he's morphed into Windsor Davies - word in your year pretty boy!

Austin scored some great goals - the one at ours for one - but not seen enough of him to compare him with Pelle.

Austin would be a good signing for Saints imo. Would be more prolific than Pelle much of the time in our team i feel, but ideally i would like to have them both in the squad.

Pelle has scored quite a few goals this season and I'm sure will score more next season (once he overcomes his fascination with achieving the World record for hitting the woodwork), but he also brings others into the game and attracts the attention of defenders (who are all asking how does he achieve that gravity-defying quiff). Get another striker by all means (and defenders, MF and GK), but Pelle is still great.

When Pelle suffered a dip in form, or at least a goal drought, I was unsure whether Ron was starting him every week because of a lack of other options or because he was keeping faith in Grazziano's ability. Either way, there were times when he seemed to need a rest.

I'm also not sure if you could play him and Charlie Austin in the same side, but I'd love to have them both in the same squad.

Neither Mane nor Long are out and out strikers despite what they did to Villa. They'll both continue to get goals running from deep, but I wouldn't put either of them up front on their own.

We need another striker for sure. Of course, we might have already one in Sam Gallagher.

Austin vs Gallagher....no competition at the moment.

I'd love to have a choice of Pelle & Austin to alternate between espescially if we reach EL group stages. I'd be happy if Austin was our only striker signing, but let's just get it done quickly!

Signing Charlie Austin (or any striker) isn't about that striker v Pelle, it is about the need to have another striker. We need another striker, ideally a better one as that becomes an improvement, or at least one that is equal to Pelle.
Absolutely, it's better to have both an England international striker AND an Italian international striker instead of just one of them.

I agree, but I'm just saying I think he is slightly stronger and faster, and definitely a better finisher and a more clever player than Pelle. That's not me trying to insult Graziano, just that I think Austin would have finished a lot of the chances that Graziano missed, and that should we sign him he should start.
