Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to Sunday's FA Cup victory parade in London.

The 23-year-old led fans in an expletive-laden chant during the club's victory celebrations, mocking Premier League rivals Tottenham. He later apologised.

Wilshere has until 18:00 BST on 10 June to respond to the charge.

He was warned by the FA for a similar outburst after last year's cup win.

The England international was spoken to by Arsenal staff after this latest incident but the club said they would not be taking action.

An FA statement read: "It is alleged his conduct in making and/or inciting certain comments during the club's open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute."

Wilshere sang two anti-Spurs songs on a balcony alongside his team-mates as they celebrated beating Aston Villa 4-0 the previous day.

It was a record-breaking 12th FA Cup win for the Gunners.

I felt the whole thing was a storm in a teacup anyway, but if these are the rules the FA want to have, then I guess we have to accept them. All I'll say is that we are turning into a very soft nation.

That being said, Wilshere was warned about this last year when he did the exact same thing and he clearly didn't take it on board, so I don't feel he can complain too much when he was pretty much told by the FA to not indulge in such behaviour in the future.

Thoughts?

so players can't use what is nowadays a a very mild swear word to cater to the fans, but fans are allowed to pretty much sing and chant whatever they want in the stands.

makes complete sense to me.

saying that, Wilshere knew the rule was there, had been warned about this last year so it's a bit stupid from him

**** off ballocks you're a **** is not a very mild swear word <ok>

Lol the FA are such a bunch of **** wits who can go **** themselves, stupid bastards, the lot of them. They're the ones that need the sacking just like Blatter with all the dumb **** they do.

Charge that, ****ers.

BIg issue out of nothing but WIlshere has been warned before and is stalked by the British media, so he should know that they would make a big issue out of this.

He was warned and made to apologise last year,I just wish he'd learn his lesson. If you look at the video of the incident you can see Arsenal officials trying to take the microphone out of his hand, you would have thought he would have taken the hint then.

If I were Jack I would write a big apology letter to the THFC Board, and donate one week´s salary to be used by Spurs for their work in the community. And then spend pre-season training with Xavi in learning the art of midfield play and how to conduct himself off it!!

lol, **** off.

Gunnerblog raised the very interesting point about what *if* Jack could prove Spurs were, indeed, sh*t... I mean, it can't be hard to do. Would he still be charged for singing the truth? <whistle>

How does he explain singing "My old man said be a Tottenham fan" because that is when Arsenal TV cut off the transmission and apologised for his behaviour <ok>

Good point if Wishere's crime was slander. This is no defence to being a drunken twat. Most Spurs fans I've spoken to don't mind the banter, he is being punished for his language in a public event. One day (possibly in the dark distant future) we'll give it back to him. This is how it should be between our clubs. Only in a little more style.

As an outsider the only thing that disappointed me about the whole incident was that it was Jack Wilshere and not Arsene Wenger leading the singing - now that would have been worth watching!

But that's how the tune goes. It's such a banger <party>

How can you accuse someone else of lacking intelligence when you write guff like this...

I am sure that Spurs fans have a anti Arsenal song that they can sing when their team wins a trophy - does anyone remember how it goes as it's been a while

Not since we've sung anti-Arsenal songs. Don't have to only bring them out when you win a trophy.
