It went off prematurely and I had to do it through the edit button. JK has offered an alternative version. I didn't include short-term loans like Yobo as I was looking at the start of the season.
Not at all JK. Yours gives a different way to make the comparison. Here's my full version for those who missed it: It's interesting to compare the squad we started with under CH to that currently under AN: Ruddy--- Ruddy Bunn--- Rudd Martin --- (Martin) Whittaker--- Whittaker Turner --- Martin R. Bennett --- R.Bennett -------------------Turner Bassong --- Bassong ----------------Miquel Olsson --- Olsson Garrido --- Toffolo Howson --- Howson Fer --- Odjidja-Ofoe ----------------O'Neil Tettey --- Tettey Johnson --- Dorrans --------------(Johnson) Snodgrass --- Redmond E.Bennett --- E.Bennett Hoolahan --- Hoolahan (Fer) --- Andreu (Howson) --- (Howson) Pilkington --- Johnson Redmond --- Lafferty RvW --- Jerome Elmander --- Grabban Hooper --- Hooper Becchio --- RvW Even before any further new players arrive, we already have a stronger squad now.
Agreed, Rick. I must say, on balance, we probably have the slightly stronger squad already. If we can get a couple of quality signings on top, we'll hopefully have a really good chance of avoiding the drop.
There are subtle differences as well, like Johnson shifting to the left flank and becoming Pots over there. You could also add Grabban's ability to play on either flank as a further strength, as is Dorrans' ability to play on the left when needed.
I quite liked Weimann, seemed like a player who gave his all even when the rest of the Villa team were playing incredibly poorly. Whether he stood out just because Villa were so poor or what I don't know, but AN clearly likes players who have that commitment to the course.
I agree Colk, when he played against us he always looked great on the ball and gave 100%. Saw him score a cracker in the cup game against us. I would be looking into this if I were AN.
I think Weimann is a good player who might have lost his way and is younger than I thought. I'm not sure on his wages but if the fee wasn't too much which is likely as he only has a year left on his deal then he's someone I would like to see at NCFC. I think hes used as more a second striker or a wide attacking player?? I could be wrong there though!
If it's not too much - say £2-3m - I'd happily see Weimann here. Great second striker or option from the bench. And he's rapid isn't he?
One for the future ? http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015...oys-norwich-pursuing-plymouths-ben-purringto/
I wonder what's going to happen with Louis Thompson this year. The PL would feel like a big step up. Maybe another loan but to the championship this time. Sometimes I'm the past few years I've felt we have progressed as a club too fast for our youth players development. I wonder whether he an Toffolo might struggle with this.
Weimann would have been interesting, but as said Derby appear to be the forerunners there. Certainly wouldn't have been against him joining.
