One thing you can bet is the majority of media and pundits will be congratulating Clyne on making a great career choice as he takes the meteoric rise from the 7th best team to 6th best team, whilst castigating that upstart sterling as he seeks to leave the special club that is Liverpool for a team that regularly makes the champions league and challenges for the title

This is just so on the ball. Spot on comment of the week.

If players want to go, then so be it, but this summer I would prefer their replacement to be announced before, or at the same time, to prevent the meltdown, some fans had last summer.

What we do know is that players, managers and even chairmen leave, but the Saints juggernaut just keeps rolling along. I bear no ill will to any that have left (although I do like to see the Scousers and Spuds losing). The Board have everything in place to cover every eventuality, players are disposable and we have replacements for every position lined up.
I've never had as much optimism for Saints moving forward, we are self sufficient as last year's accounts showed (and that included the fees for Ramirez and Osvaldo), this year's profits should be much higher after last summer's exodus. Yes, it hurts to lose popular players such as Morgan and Nat, but we can be proud that we made them better players and we will continue to make good players into excellent ones.

So for the people that didn't agree with me that releasing Gutierrez was disgusting. How do you feel now?

According to the Liverpool Echo we are talking to Cleverley.

Like a lot of players get over-rated, I do think Cleverley is one of those players who gets unfairly lambasted. I don't think he is awful, but he is not exactly great either and when you play for United and England as he has, then being average just won't do.

If it's true and we do sign him and in a years time he is back in the England squad and worth £20m+ then I will be convinced that Southampton are harbouring gold dust in the bowels of the Liebherr academy

Look, keep this to yourself. This is all part of a grand plan. Morgan to United for £25m and we sign Cleverley for 2 and 6. Cleverley becomes brilliant for us, gets in the England team while Morgan has a mare with Shaw at United. Hodgson tells Cleverley that he needs to play for United or Liverpool to stay in his plans, so United sign him back for £25m plus Morgan. Meanwhile, United finish 4th again but this time fall out in the qualifying stages of the CL, while we win the Europa league and get in the Champions League.

Shh don't tell anyone though.

One tiny flaw with your plan - if we won the EL United wouldn't even qualify for the CL - they'd go straight into the EL while we nicked their spot in the CL. :1980_boogie_down:
