**** naaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ****as we're going from 2nd, 3rd to 4th rate here In the words of the great Johnny Mac You CANNOT be serious!!
Not a bad price. Surely you can see that for that price, given his age and goal scoring record he'll be a decent 3rd choice? Get rid of Mario Lambert and borini and being in a top quality striker and I'm happy with Sturridge, origi, ings and a top striker as the main 4
I rather look at a players ability first and foremost, and if he cannot improve the first XI, then I see no reason in signing him.
His goal record is average at best. And that's despite playing a lot of minutes this season. A lot of fans tried to apply the same logic to Lambert. Regardless of price or stats, they simply aren't good enough for LFC. It's time to start thinking like a big club.
So you don't think ings would be better than our current options of sterling to play upfront? problem is, he will improve the first team team because Rodgers doesn't have a striker he trusts other than Sturridge.
I'd rather have Ings than Mario, Lambert or Borini but that is not exactly the height I'd like the see the bar set at either! We should be aiming to improve on a fit and ready Studge!
He's on par with Borini IMO. Just don't see the logic of signing another workhorse with little talent.
Exactly. Why are we looking to improve up on the likes of Lambert and Borini? It's hardly setting the benchmark high.
Klopp confirms he will not take over at a new club this summer. Looks like we can look forward to Ings, Milner and Benteke then.
I don't think we have a chance at signing a big name player. Too many clubs can and will step in and poach them if it looks like we're interested. We probably need to gamble on some kid looking good in a south american league.
Thing is, you need to sell 3 of your strikers (balotelli, borini, lambert). Whether that's doable is another thing. And although Ings got 12 goals in however many games he's played and has potential, at best if we are basing this on him being better than balotelli, borini, origi and lambert, he will be your number 2 striker (meaning you haven't bought anyone else), or more realistically he will be your 4th best striker. Will he progress to that status as i doubt he will be getting any games and where does that put sinclair who is probably more at that level for 4th striker. So you are having 2 promising strikers in Origi and Ings fighting it out for the 3rd backup spot and another 4m-6m wasted. Not really what i would call good squad/money management. I think you should be lumping that extra money and wages on a class striker
If we used the 'they're better than what we currently have' approach then even someone like Shane Long would be seen as a good signing! It's why some are seeing Ings as alright as a back-up option. In reality, we have Origi coming in who should be considered to be said back-up. We should be ****ing RL, MB and FB off and then looking to bring in TWO quality strikers to complement and compete with Studge and Origi. And by quality, I don't mean splash out on Aguero, Hugain or Benzema, etc since those are unrealistic. We need to target the up and coming stars that already have something about them like Benteke but a better fit. I want to see us go for Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang and Tevez but have already resigned myself to Benteke and INGS.
No matter what happens, buying Ings is excellent squad/money management. He's so cheap he's practically free. And he's a proven goalscorer. And he's a kid. And he's English. It's a can't lose buy. The other striker(s) we buy are where it really matters.
@Gerrez I thought you meant better than a fit and firing Sturridge, that's a tiny list of players who wouldn't sign for us.
I don't think Studge is as good as his reputation. Yes he scores goals and can link up play but he's also very greedy and rarely sticks to getting in the box. Suarez and Studge was the perfect partnership because they took it in turns as to who was going to go wondering about. I think we should be aiming to improve on him, especially considering his shocking injury record
You can have Redmond for £18m rising to £25m when he gets an England cap. He's really, really, really good. Honest. I've watched him many times. Ideal replacement to Sterling. Cheers, thanks, bye
