As I've said before, nothing wrong with signing Ings as long as he's not the only striker we sign.

    Why do we need him?

What will he provide that we don't already have?

On the basis that we will be kicking Balotelli, Borini and Lambert out the door, then Ings on a modest salary and sign on fee to replace one of those wouldn't be the worst. But certainly I would expect him to be backup and us to sign some bigger players.

And how many games did he play in? Will he get the same amount of games at LFC?

Can't assume that he will get 10 goals at LFC because he simply won't play as many games. Why waste £6m of the limited funds we have signing back up players?

And his conversion rate is awful.

Agreed he's better than Lambert but he's not better than Mario.

Nothing suggests that Ings is suited to our style (or the style us fans think we play).

    He's a striker and we don't have any. <laugh>

Seriously though if we pretty much get rid of everyone other than Sturridge then add Ings, Origi and 1 really top player then we have a much better forward line than we do right now (although that's not difficult).

My concern is that Ings and Origi are the only 2 we are going to get.

I don't mind going for Ings but only AFTER we have fixed the first team.

Spending £6m on Ings, and a big signing on fee + wages for Milner is just a waste of resources.

I agree and would be much happier with Studge, Origi, Sinclair +1 really good striker.

  12. That makes zero sense. How can he better than one player we already have but worse than a even weaker player we already have...?

Nail on the head really. I think Ings isn't exactly a bad signing. At 6m thats cheap as chips for an up and coming striker who has already played in the PL and shown some potential. Dare i say he would be an ideal signing for Chelsea to buy, loan out and then sell on for more money. However that isn't going to happen as i believe Ings would want to be playing football.

As for where he would fit in at Liverpool, i don't believe Pool would be buying him to loan out and i don't think he will actually get games. Not only would this be stunting his learning capacity, it also means its another forward to add to your depth but not really add anything. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you could shift Mario or Borini but i'm not sure there are that many takers. Would this 6m be better off buying a much better partner/competitor for Sturridge, probably yes. Depth is something you had last year just Rodgers didn't fancy any of them

I don't see the £6mil for Ings being at the expense of a better player. He's a borini replacement really and there are plenty of funds for the other positions.

Thats only if you shift Borini else you're paying 6m and another set of wages for essentially what is squad depth which is what borini and balotelli is going to provide. Is 6m a bad figure for his ability and potential. No of course not that is cheap. Will he get a run in the Rodgers squad though. I'm not sure about that as i think rodgers has proven that if his reserve strikers don't turn it on then he leaves them on the bench and prefers to put someone like sterling up there instead.

Plus you still have to play Origi whos coming back too

We're selling at least one striker Bobby. I don't really see an issue here.

Mario is far more talented than Ings. And believe it or not, in the very few performances that we actually created chances and attacked well was when he and Sturridge were both on the pitch.

Play to his strengths and put him alongside another striker, and we've seen more out of them this season than any of our other strikers.

Not saying Mario is the best thing on earth, but you cannot seriously compare Ings with Balotelli, no matter how much you hate him.

Echo - Liverpool have earmarked 1st July to unveil Danny Ings if talks are successful. Compensation fee of around £4m.

Beginning of the end of this club is near ..
