- Richard Dunne has called time on his 18-year career, reports the Irish Mirror.
- The former Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa defender was among six players released by QPR earlier this week following their relegation from the Premier League.
Dunne's former team-mate Rio Ferdinand announced his retirement on Saturday after leaving Loftus Road and it is understood the centre-back has also decided to hang up his boots.
The 35-year-old was shown the door on Wednesday, but had already decided to pass up other offers to continue playing, in favour of spending more time with his family; wife Helen and children Lila and Tayo- .
Dunne was linked with a move to India, USA and a return to Ireland, but has called an end to a professional playing career that began when he signed his first contract at Everton.
The Dubliner made more than 600 club appearances after making his debut for the Toffees as a teenager back in 1997.
