We have too many defenders at the end of the day. He's been a great servant but I'd rather McShane were to leave than Chester/Dawson etc

A guy on twitter for want its worth claiming McShane is going because of a massive bust up with Hudd and Livermore telling them that they only get into the team because they SB adopted children and he also had a pop at Alex as well.
Not sure whether it's true or not but I would LOVE it to be, I'd love to imagine Macca going at those ****ers like a Rottweiler <laugh>

It's not that, it is the fact that Bruce was offered another contract over McShane. Joke. It was basically a decision between the two. Bruce won....somehow

Obviously McShane is a cult hero at the club and most fans don't want him to go but I'm not really surprised by this

At the end of the game on sunday he definitely looked like he was saying goodbye and knew he was on his way out

Just one thing I want to mention about our centre back situation is James Chester. On Humberside before the spurs game he pretty much said if we go down he would be looking to move as he wants to play in the premier league. Add to that hes coming into the last year of his deal is it worth keeping him in hope of going back up straight away and him signing a new deal because once January comes round his value will have decreased and we might not be in a position to get him to re-sign? I can see the club cashing in on him rather than risk losing him for free in 12 months time. I can also see Davies also wanting to leave if we get any offers in so I think we might end up short at the back.

Gutted Macca has gone because he's done a great job and improved greatly from the player we first signed. Alex Bruce has always done a good job so can't fault his new deal although don't see why both couldn't have got a 1 year deal. Hopefully Quinn accepts this new deal he's been offered because I think he could be vital next season

I expect Bruce will be hoping Maguire steps up alongside Dawson in the defence. If Chester stays he'll be in there with them & Jnr will be back up.

If Chester leaves McShane's departure makes no sense, unless Bruce has his eyes on another defender.

Unless Davies wants to play again.

Don't forget Figueroa was a centre back as well. If the worst comes to the worst and Chester and Davies both went that would leave Dawson, Maguire and Bruce if Dawson is 100% staying as stated somewhere. New centre back or two needed? Or is there someone i missed who can play there?

Trying to shift the point now eh? How could I possibly have an opinion that "Maguire has been outstanding"? I haven't seen Wigan play once with him in the side, never mind multiple times, which is precisely why I used the key word APPARENTLY. Just admit it, you missed this detail and immediately jumped all over my post. An apology now would make it so you walk away now with even a slither of dignity.

Not at all, please carry on. You are making yourself look more ridiculous with each post you make. Don't stop on my account. Do tell me that you are not involved in anyway shape or form in written journalism?

I know which word you used. It's your quote, your reference, you're passing off third party information as if you are in agreement.

Apparently he was OUTSTANDING. So, you have had 3rd party information, which you are relaying as if it were correct. You suggested he had only played a small part in their season and could not therefore make a difference. I suggested that 16 games, or a third of a season was significant, and if he had been outstanding, then his impact was greater.

Bye

A Dawson / Maguire pairing would lack pace - if Chester goes we will need a replacement IMO

Apparentley Steve Bruce's wife says he has to lose weight, so expect Senior and Junior at the centre of defence.
Steve only wants a steak & kidney pie as a win bonus, so expect a records points total next season
