I mean is it any wonder this club is where it is when we choose a mid table manager and then fill it with players who have only ever excelled at lower level clubs.

Are people forgetting that we had a midfield of Alonso, Mascherano and Gerrard but are now content with Henderson and Milner?

We had Agger and Hyypia, but players like Skrtel are heralded. Jon Flanagan is lauded as the Scouse Cafu when we had the likes of Finnan and Arbeloa.

We had Robbie Keane as a back up striker and we think Lambert and Ings are good options.

Like I said, is it any reason why this team is in this mess?

Not at all. We should be looking at players from bigger clubs who struggle.

Coutinho, Sturridge and Sakho are great examples. They have 2 things in common - 1) they were young and have potential and 2) they have real quality.

Why don't we just sign the likes of O'Shea and Wes Brown if you're that hung up on experience.

It's nothing to do with experience, Milner is a quality player on a free. It's a no brainer FFS <laugh>

The only reason I'm responding is because people have proven everything you have said about Milner wrong but then dismiss Man City's own qualities completely forgetting the diabolic position we find ourselves in.

You're making yourself look a bit foolish on this subject IMO. You'd be better off just saying you don't rate him <ok>

cos they are 34 not 29...

cos they are/were gash and milner is not. cos neither would improve us... etcetcetcetcetc

You go find a kid struggling at some Italian club then and come back when you do. Kovacic is not coming. REALITY CHECK... you are as likely to by alberto as coutinho playing your game.

theres not that many unpolished diamonds out there for peanuts.

Finally we actually need a team... pity we don't even know if the guy is coming to us.

Jimmy is having a mare. Very few teams ever have world class players across the park. In fact if Liverpool ever managed to do so, we'd have the other big boys selecting all and we are back to square one. We had one world class player and couldn't even keep hold of the annoyingly brilliant biting tw@t. We can try and have 4 quality players across all positions i.e. ST,MF,DF and GK and ensure they are supported by above average to good players.

Milner is a brilliant player who gives 100% in all games scores a few and is brilliant in combination play. If you cannot see that Jimmy there is a problem with your logic. If you want to see how good Milner is as an option, see his impact in the game against City last season. Plus he can take a mean freekick so no more Hendo trying to look like Cristiano but ending up looking like Bentley.

And the same people tried to convince me that Lovren and Lallana would be quality first team additions as well.

I'm sorry, I just don't share the same level of enthusiasm towards mediocrity.

we you seem happy with lucas and allen by the sound of you... again milner is at least far better than those..

Milner:

- Great energy
- Good passing
- Hard worker
- Underrated technical ability

How could I have been so blind? You've all won me over!

I didn't notice we signed them for a season only. Players struggle some adapt faster but to suggest that they will be awful for the rest of their careers at Liverpool is snobbish. A wise man changes a fool stays the same...don't be too rigid in your thinking Jimmy.

It's not that they are struggling to adapt. It's that they simply aren't good enough - that is why they will not succeed.

There is a fine line between top 4 and mid table - players like Lallana look good on the ball but they lack substance in their play which is why he does not improve us.

I'd put him in the Milner camp in that he's decent to have in the squad but he won't get us to where we need to be.

Lovren has been poor throughout his career bar a few months at Soton.

100k for Milner CURRENTLY is not the issue. But it would be a long contract, and what happens when 2 years time, when he becomes deadwood, he's still sitting on his 100k? He would be a very hard player to shift - remember J Cole?!? especially as he's been happy sitting rotting at City for years for big $.
